Re: Help! Big Flea Issue

My FH's house was just overrun with them the other day & his brother moved out with his unaffected (inside) kitties 2 weeks ago, so we have no clue how he got them. In any event, this is what he did:

1) we were going to tear it up anyway, so he got rid of all the carpets in his bedroom & the living room (the only 2 spots they seemed to be)
2) he trashed any unecessary furniture that may have contained unseen larva
3) he washed everything he owns in super hot water
4) he bought a bunch of the Raid foggers & set them off
5) he bought the powder flea treatment for carpets & scattered it all over the wood floors & fabric furniture (beds, couches, etc) just in case - i should add that he moved in with me during all this. he then vaccumed it up later & threw out the vaccum bag
6) he sprayed his house with all over with Raid flea treatment.

After all that work the population went down A LOT (90 - 95%), but there were still some & since they can lay dormant for a long time until hatching, we decided the best thing to do was to call in a pro exterminator. The exterminator came on Saturday morning and sprayed & fogged the entire house. After 8 hours we went back to open the windows/air it out and he could have stayed there if he wanted to, but I made him stay with me another night. Anyways, since then the house has been flea free. If you try all of the other stuff & it doesn't work, then I'd highly recommend calling a pro. We paid $600 for the 1 time treatment. HTH & goooood luck!!!

Re: Help! Big Flea Issue

Cover all food, remove all pets, buy flea bombs from harware store and evacuate for a few hours. Then come back and wash whatever was nearby. Voila! Fleas gone!
