HELP!! i was just at a friends bridal shower the other day, and saw some pictures of me wearing a white tank top. i don't have a scale at home so i don't really know how much i weigh, or if i have really lost all of the 5 ish pounds i gained while taking up my daily large glass of tonic water with a splash of gin. anyway, i saw the pictures and i was very unhappy with my weight. it is very apparent to me that i haven't lost all of the weight, but that isn't my major problem. my arms have always been muscular, so when my arm is pressed against my body it makes me look about 10 pounds heavier than i am. i was just wondering if anyone had any tricks for that?? would doing push ups make my arms smaller and more toned, or would it make the matter worst???

Drink water w/o the gin.

Re: HELP! -big muscular arms
if your arms are muscular, don't do too many push ups because then it'll only accentuate your triceps and chest. tone everything done with some light weights working out all the major muscle groups but do heavy repetitions and many sets. adding some cardio as well as controlling your diet to limit high fat and high carb foods help. if you wanna take an exercise class, i highly recommend cardio kickboxing. works out arms from punching and legs with kicking.

Hey girl,
I have the same problem and there are two things i do...first...i never let my arms rest flat against me for pictures....always leave just a little room between your body and your arm. It you angle your elbow toward the camera it really makes your upper arm look skinny. Second....DO YOGA OR PILATES. You dont have to go to classes just get yourself a dvd and get going. Your arms will be toned up in no time. Pushups will make them look bigger and it sounds to me that that is not the goal. Look up windsor pilates .,..you will love them!

I also have the same problem! I used to play rugby and football and have always lifted. Now I am trying to tone more and I have lost a lot of weight and mass, though my arms just dont seem to get smaller with the rest of my body! I always wear long sleeve sweaters to hide them because I am so self conscious. The one thing that does seem to help (but very slowly) is running. It has been leaning out my whole body, including my arms. They are defined but big! I just hope I can get them smaller for the wedding. I think about this all the time! If anything else works for you, let me know!!!

When you pose for pictures, hold your arms slighly away from your body. Makes a HUGE difference. I can tell the difference when I was paying attention to that and not in my wedding photos.
And then, just don't worry too much about it. We are always most critical of ourselves. I'm sure it's not half as bad as you think.

I agree. Yoga and Pilates will give you long lean muscles and you wont look like a female body builder
