OMG - i am in cousin wedding drama HELL, someone please help me. My 'little' cousin who is almost 18 (10 years difference between us) is absolutely throwing a FIT that i did not ask her to be in the wedding party (I am already having 7 girls and my FH only has 4 guys - hello, can we say i CANNOT fit everybody) but that does not matter to anybody. heck, why should it matter, this day is NOT about me right!??? apparently i did not know the rule (and no one told me until now - 23 days before the wedding) that ALL cousins BY BIRTHRIGHT have a right to be in the wedding. they have it coming to them. Huh, silly me!!!
ANYWAY - my cousin is (i am really struggling to find a nice way to say this) she is large. She has Juvenile Diabetes which has led to significant weight issues and unfortunately an eating disorder (she sneaks all the sweets she can get her hands on and drinks heavily). Sorry, TMI, i just want to get across that there is absolutely nothing wrong with 'full figuredness' but this situation is a little different (i.e., it is really unhealthy weight).
anyway, what do i do?? I have 23 days left. I checked David's Bridal and they carry a dress similar to my other BM's dresses in sizes up to 22, but I am not sure if she will fit in that. We are going to have her go try on Saturday. I was hoping someone could recommend a specialty shop or another bridal shop that carries larger sizes (my bridal shop cannot get the matching dress in on time!!! plus all my girls are wearing strapless dresses, which is probably not going to work. i am thinkign a two piece set would be good) oh boy!!!!

How about just having her do a reading? I don't think its fair of her to have a fit and force you to include her in the bridal party.

I totally agree with wacky! Tell her- first off, she doesn't get to tell you who will be in your bridal party. It is your day and it should be about YOU (and of course, your FH ). But, 23 days and now she wants in? You should not be dealing with this now! I'd tell her no way!! If you do want to include her, maybe make her a reader like wacky said.

Re: Help - BM dresses for 'full figure' - LONG VENT!
thanks ladies! and Wacky, you are so right. but the problem is I feel terrible. i probably should have asked her, or at least had a special talk with her about why i was limiting the BP to 7. acckk, i am just kicking myself here. and also, when you know someone is upset, it doesn't make it any less frustrating that you are completely RIGHT!@!!!!! the problem is, she is still hurt, you know?
anyway, I really like the reading idea. i had thought about making her a hostess and trying to get a 'similar' looking dress (maybe same material) so that she could feel included. and giving her the job of the guestbook (i need someone to do it!) and then she would have a job (to keep her bratty self busy). but, maybe a reading would be better??!
oh boy!

Don't worry Joanne, if she's not in your wedding, it won't kill her. She'll get over it. She's just being an immature teenager!

It is prom season -- so check out the malls because they probably will have a variety of dresses and perhaps you can find something similar.
JC Penney usually has a pretty good selection of special occassion dresses throughout the year and I think they carry plus sizes.
Also -- see if you can get a pattern and have a seamstress make the dress. You have just under a month -- that could be enough time. I'm not sure.
Edited to say: I just checked www.jcpenny.com and they have prom dresses and have a selection of separates. I saw up to size 24.

Oh, what a PAIN, I'm so sorry, Joanne. I agree that your best course of action is to make her a part of your wedding in another way rather than killing yourself this soon out to find her a dress, etc. I agree with the idea to have her do a reading or be a 'hostess' with the guest book.

Do you have a picture of the dress, and what color is it?

You might want to try ordering online from Roamans or Lane Bryant. They have large sizes...

Roaman's has this dress up to size 24, but only in black or silver. They also have this dress in Lavendar or pink, and they call it a bridesmaid dress:

You could also try Chadwicks, they have a couple of dresses in their bridal section up to size 26. Alight has quite a few prom dresses right now, so you might want to check there.

I think a 2 -piece is flattering for all sizes. Plus they are comfortable.

Re: Help - BM dresses for 'full figure' - LONG VENT!
Where was she when all the heavy planning was going on? That's not right to know all the plans and then ait until the last minute to say you want in when hello! the choice isn't yours!! But if you have to put her in Bianchi's specializes in 'plus' sizes for events like this. Most of my BM's are full-figured and this store was recomended to me by the owner of one the rception hall's I was looking at. I don't know where it is- but I know the name is Bianchi. Hope that helps

JoRo, I really undersatnd how you feel. But I think that if you include her in some other way, it will be fine. I think giving her something to do...something that she is solely responsible for, will let her feel included. You can still have her get a dress. But I really believe that making these type of changes (adding her to the bridal party) 23 days before YOUR wedding is more stress than you need. I hope everything works out.
