I went for my hair trial today and my hair kept getting so frizzy so they recommended a brazillian blowout. I'm a little nervous because I don't want to lose my curls. Plus I literally had a breakdown over the expense.
Any thoughts?

DO NOT do it!!!!! I have always done keratin....and did the brazilian blowout on saturday and from the fumes got extremely sick. Do your research on the product and the salon doing it....and make sure there is proper ventilation. I have done keratin in the past and loved it....and did the brazilian blowout this time around and ended up in the ER with 105 fever due to chemical inhalation. First time having this reaciton.

I think there is stuff that you can put in your hair that you can buy at the store that is a keratin based serum that you put in and it keeps it frizz free until you wash it out. Try to look into something like that.

A good, professional blowout will look sleek. Get your hair blown out professionally. I've found that poor hair stylists blame everything but their lack of skill. A great hair stylist can make any hair look amazing.
As for the Brazilian Blowout: stay FAR, FAR AWAY!

I am wearing my hair up bc of this. I have wavy hair and don't want to get a treatment just to wear it down or possible lose my waves.

This is the one with the fumes? I'm asthmatic. NOT going to risk this the week of the wedding.

I thought that was banned in the us. Do the keratin treatment instead!

Re: HELP - Brazillian blowout?
Crashing! Please don't do it, stick with keratin. The Brazilian blow out is so toxic and so bad for you! Go to www.safecosmetics.org and read some of the articles.

Me too! I thought they were the same thing. I have been thinking about doing it too....but I'm concerned bc I have fine hair, but it gets way puffy n frizzy with humidity! I don't want it to make my hair look flat with no body...I just want to get rid of the frizz

Re: HELP - Brazillian blowout?
I have frizzy curly hair and I bought a formaldehyde free keratin treatment and it made my hair easy to straighten and when it is curled it's frizz free. It lasted 30 days.
PS Keratin is a protein treatment! I dnot think it is as harmful as the Brazilizan one.

No there is one that's not as toxic...Brazilian blow out is THE WORST!! They're doing everything they can to ban it in the US. There are others that aren't as bad but they all have chemicals and toxins.

Yup that's true!!!
You can do it on highlighted hair also. I've heard really bad things about the at home Organix Keratin it completely ruined my friends color. Best thing you can do is some research and find a professional that knows what their doing and will use one that is the least harmful, it really does work well though so I would say if you have super frizzy hair (I do) it's worth it.

Any leads on where I can do research to find someone reputable?
Thanks

Re: HELP - Brazillian blowout?
My hair gets frizzy - since I have curly hair.
A week before the wedding I got a glaze and it helped my hair so much.
First it covered my grays lol but it made it super shiny and really healthy. Day of, my hair looked so pretty b/c I had it done.
The glaze does color your hair, which i was TERRIFIED of, since Ive never put anything in my hair like that before, but you could barley tell.
It just washes out - you dont get roots but kind of boosts your color a bit.
DO NOT DO THE BRAZILIAN!!!! It's horrible for your hair - lots of lawsuits happening right now b/c of that stuff. It's not worth it!!!!!

Re: HELP - Brazillian blowout?
i get my hair keratin-ed about twice a year. it lasts for 6-8 months. it is NOT the brazilian kind.
my hair in its natural state is a weird mix of frizzy, straight, and wavy, so the keratin is a must for me. if you don't want to lose your natural curl for everyday wear then don't do it, because you will have to wait until the product wears off your hair.
there are ones that are shorter lasting, but i wouldn't recommend doing anything for the wedding without testing it first and you don't have time to test it before the wedding to see how it works with your hair, i don't think...
maybe the glaze that was mentioned above would be better...
