Help!!! Cant find a venue!!! Brooklyn/Queens

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting.

I have been researching wedding venues for a while now, and recently started going to visit them in person. I cannot seem to find anything that fits our preferences...there is always something wrong with the place....and the places I love are too expensive.

We are having a large wedding, around 300 people, so the place should be large enough (but not at capacity). The ceremony and reception should be in the same place. Also, we would prefer to use our own caterers (this is something i might compromise on).

We are looking at something around the Brooklyn/Queens area. A realistic budget would be around 100-140 max. If the place is outstanding, I might be willing to spend the extra $$.

I would like the place to look elegant, and have chandeliers, and preferably high ceilings (i get a little claustrophobic, especially with 250 of his relatives).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!! Cant wait to hear the responses.

Here are some venues in Brooklyn/Queens that I know of that should fit your criteria.

- Russo's on the Bay
- Dyker Beach Golf Course
- The Riviera Brooklyn
- El Caribe Country Club

I visited Riviera and Dyker Golf Course...They are too small for the amount of people I am having, even though we 'fit' just at their capacity. This will not work because my fiance's family is very traditional, and their cultural weddings include a type of dancing that requires A LOT of room. The dance floor at those places is not adequate...Anyway, I didnt like Riviera for other reasons as well (ceremony would be compromised because of the awkward shape of the garden).

Surprisingly I havent researched El Caribe and Russo's. I quickly glanced at El Caribe and Russo's online, and they both look nice =) I will try to check them out in person this weekend.

Thanks!!!!!!

...Now, all i need to do is hope that the prices are affordable, and that i can bring in my own caterer =)

Ok so none of these are in Brooklyn/Queens but close enough and beautiful:

Inn at New Hyde Park (not very far into Nassau)
Marina Del Rey (right over the whitestone bridge into the Bronx)

I know you said brooklyn or queens but there are few on staten island that are very nice.

Hilton garden inn hosts beautiful weddings and they have beautiful grounds.

The vanderbilt is also very nice and on the beach.

My last reccomendation would be the hall at snug harbor which is also known as the staten island botanical gardens. Snug harbor is full of history and the gardens are to die for!

i second the hilton garden inn in staten island....it is called nicotra ballroom

http://www.nicotrasballroom.com/

my friend had her wedding there a few years back and it was huge and beautiful they draped the whole room and had uplighting....

and i believe they allowed them to have there on caterer because they were kosher...

Re: Help!!! Cant find a venue!!! Brooklyn/Queens

Thanks everyone!!!

I already made appointments for El Caribe and Russo's for this coming weekend. I cant wait to see them!!! Especially after everyone is recommending Russo's, I'm excited to see the place in person. Only downfall is that Russos doesnt allow outside caterers :( We will see if i can negotiate something.

As for some of the other suggestions...the closer to Brooklyn, the better...even Queens is a bit of a stretch for most of the guests.

I really liked Nicotras (my cousin's wedding was there), but its a veryyyy long drive from Brooklyn (almost NJ), so I dont want to inconvenience the guests. Same goes for Long Island. Even though it seems close, it will become problematic for the guests. I liked the Vanderbilt too (family friend's wedding), and I'm still considering it...but my future mother in law has issues that its not in Brooklyn (although its literally right off the verazzano). Oh well...we will keep trying to find something to fit our preferences.

Thanks for all the help...any other venue ideas are welcomed...

But keep in mind...my wedding will have 300 people, we need a large dance floor, and we would prefer to bring in our own caterer.

Ditto to all above. My older son had his wedding at the Riviera Brooklyn and it was fabulous. I consider it the Russo's of Brooklyn only a little better because it is only 1 wedding at a time and they have a nice outdoor area where you can pics and your guests can get some air.

There is also the Rex Manor, Sirico's and Gennaro's all are very nice and within your budget.
Good Luck!
