OK, so here's the deal. We have a date being held at CBC, we love the view, but the room is OK. I really like it my FH likes it, but thinks the view is what makes the room. I am really concearned about there being enough food at CH. They give you 1 cold station, and then 3 other stations with 8 passed Hor Dourves. All the other places seem to give you soooooo much more. They don't even throw in the chair covers, thats an extra $10 each! But I LOVE the view! But if it's a REAL bad day, there is really no where to take pictures. We are also looking at Jericho Terrace, Floral Terrace and Sand Castle and they all are willing to give us more for less money on the same date. Any help would be great. TIA.

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
I don't have any particular advise on CBC but what I can tell you is that when I was looking at places I wasn't wowed by anything until I saw Lombardi's on the Sound but I AGONIZED over finally booking there becase I was stressing about how if it rained it was a lot of $ for not taking advantage of why I liked it so much...In the end we had a perfect day so it was a nonissue but the point of this post is that I went with the place where I got 'the feeling' and it was 100% perfect...
Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the food because IMO while you may get more at a lot of places, its often a silly/unnecessary amount of food anyway so you should go with the place that your heart tells you to go w/...and that sounds like CBC..but if its not maybe keep looking...lombardi's on the sound and Chateau la mer are both on the water too and may give you more for your money...
sorry that was long but hope it helps

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
I have heard only great things about CBC, so I think you will be fine there. However, that being said, my friend had her wedding at Lands End and it poured all day...the place definitely lost a lot of it's charm with that. But if you are having a night wedding, it really doesn't matter. I can't remember what the inside of CBC looks like but if the sole reason you are considering the place is based on its view, which is fine, just remember its a roll of the dice with the weather. Sarahradio just had her wedding there and it poured on her day too...maybe she can offer you some insight.

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
im not quite sure waht to say. i am on the fence b/c a great view is a great view, but food is a biggie to most people- its what makes or breaks a place.
have you gone for a tasting? is the food amazing? that is really terrible that they dont give you much for the money.
my wedding is at Jericho and although there isnt much grounds, i know everyone will rave about the food. Maybe look into halls that have both a great view and food. not sure what your budget is per person but Glen Island harbor has both great views and food...
there are a ton of other places to choose from. You are spending a fortune and i guess in the end i would chosse the place that gives me the best bang for my buck. i am sure you will ifnd a perfect place that has both!!
good luck!

There was more than enough food at our wedding. Other places may offer more, but there was def. ENOUGH food at our wedding. In fact, the amout of food at the CH was one of the things our guests raved about. HTH.

contact captsarkasm. She is getting married there and can tell you more about the place.
Food was the #1 decision maker for us hence why we went with Villa Lombardi's and believe me EVERYONE was talking about the food (Which is what folks will remember).

Trust me, I got married a month ago at the Crescent Beach Club and there is SOO much food. In fact, there was probably way too much food... Guests couldn't believe the assortment and how much of everything there was... The food is SO good too... FM me if you have any questions!

my sister got married there in Aug. and yes the CH was a bit on the skimpy side... my sister fortunately was taking pictures the whole time. There def was food, but not a lot or a large variety

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
Hey.....obviously i'm completely bias towards CBC being that we booked there. I too was skeptical about the amount of food offered during the cocktail hour (although I don't know if it was because we booked back in march, but we get more stations than you mentioned....they may have changed their layout...)
The food question has been the #1 question that I had for brides that have had their wedding there this year. I come from a family who is 'used to options' and I was a little skeptical at the fact that there weren't as many chaffing dishes or pass arounds as other places.... The truth is...even with 10 chaffing dishes, you may still pick some that half of your guests don't even like.... not to mention that while there may be 10 different pass-arounds, you know the same 3 are the only ones that seem to pass by you
In regards to the picture opportunities....yeah, there are MUCH more if it is nice out...but there are still options if it is rainy. There is the overhang outside where you wouldn't get wet but would be able to have the view if it is a clear day....there is the fireplace (provided you have to decorate it if you want)....there is the piano in the upstairs bar.... alot of people take pics at the grand piano. There is the staircase area (sarahradio5 has a couple of those to show you). Not to mention all of the possibilities if it is nice (outdoor deck, palm trees, life guard stand, cabanas, water front area, etc...)
Overall the CBC provides a more simplistic look for your RH. If you're looking for the marble and brass 'bells and whistles' so to speak, then no, it's not the right choice for you. We liked the very simple, calm beach tones to the whole place. We also LOVED the fact that it is only ONE wedding at a time....but ofcourse, you're going to be expected to pay a little more for it.
Also- In regards to the pricing, Bill and Denise were VERY accomdating with our pricing because we have a large group....about 250 people. We worked out a deal that we guaranteed 225, but if 250 come, all the per head rates drop by $5. In the end, it would save us about 3-4K... you can usually arrange a deal like that with them!
Either way, if you figure its worth it to roll the dice on the weather...I don't think you'll be disappointed.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
you have FM... you have NOTHING to worry about with the Crescent. It is SUCH a classy and beautiful place!!! My guests LOVED the food and were STUFFED by the time dinner came!!! Amount of food NO PROBLEM and the variety is based on what you pick, so you have that control!!!
I still hear that our wedding was the best wedding people have been to, and we had a CRAPPY day! So, no worries with the Crescent. Plus, chances are most of your guests haven't been to a wedding there, so yours will be even more special. It was MY first wedding there and it was PHENOMENAL. Denise, Stacy and Campbell were AMAZING and treated us like GOLD! And that VIEW on a beautiful or crappy day is worth a million bucks.
Don't bother with chair covers... you don't need them!!!!!!! Their chairs are BEAUTIFUL and they'll put covers on the bride and groom's.

negotiate based on what day...be flexible with the day....also more people they give bigger discount....but be sure of your guest list first!

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
I would say use the amount of people that you're looking to have as leverage....don't let them know the true number....low ball it with the anticipation that if you pass your minimum by 25, the price would go down!!
Also, if you're looking to get married near a season change (fall to winter -mid/late oct or winter to spring -late march/early april) they are usually good with giving you the 'winter rate' but pushing your date up to the next 'season' for them. For Example.... the winter rate does not start next year until 10/27,....they pushed the date up for us to 10/5 but gave it to us at a winter price!!!

Re: HELP!!!! Crescent Beach Club Info
I went to a wedding there in May. Food was a little scant at cocktail hour but the food at dinner was great.
Just a thought about the view - if your wedding is at night the view won't really matter.
