Help Cruise stress!!!

Help calm me down. I am getting married this Saturday and we are supposed to leave on our honeymoon cruise next week. I just heard this morning that another ship, the carnival fascination is full of sick people and they are coming home early. We are going on Royal Caribbean but I am petrified we will go away and wind up sick!!! What does everyone think? Would you cancel and find somewhere else to go last minute??? Aaakkkkkk!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

No way!

There are tons of cruises out there that are just fine and this sort of thing is very rare. Just go and enjoy yourself!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

I agree!!!!!

Go and have a great time!!!! Only a very, very small % of the cruise ships have come back with this illness (and I don't think any RCL ships).

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

Definately go on your cruise!!! Its very uncommon that these illnesses crop up on the ships and I think its just unfortunate circumstance that a few illnesses have happened so close together. This might be the best time to go since all the cruise lines are going to be extra careful that the illnesses don't happen again. Go and Enjoy!!!!!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

We went on a Royal Carib cruise in September and we were fine. Take your sea sick pills before you get on and you will be fine. Enjoy yourselves

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

Don't worry about it. Chances are, you won't get sick. Only a few ships have had this problem recently, and on all of the ships which carry thousands of people, only a couple hundred are reporting illness. Look at it this way, Even if you do get sick,(lets hope not) it's only a stomach virus, nothing life threatening, and I'm sure the cruise line will compensate you in some way. Don't worry about it.

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

I wouldn't worry about it. DH and I just got back from a Royal Caribbean cruise on Friday. We had a wonderful time and no one got sick. They have already taken precautionary measures to ensure that the ship is clean....we saw them wiping down the handrails etc. all the time.

Which ship are you going on? We were on the Majesty of the Seas. Wonderful Trip!!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

We are going on Brilliance of the seas for 11 days. Thanks for all of the good thoughts I guess I will just go and not think about it. I just hope it is not a food supplier or something similar that is spreading the stomach virus!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

I have been on 3 different cruises (2 different lines) and never had any problems.

With all the sick passengers lately, I'm sure all cruise ships are cleaning up even more than normal to avoid this.

Don't worry and have fun!!

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

I wouldn't worry about it. I have taken about 8 cruises and most of those in January when the Flu season is in high gear.
There will always be passangers who will bring some sort of bug with them. Don't stress over it - because the weather is nice and warm most people forget to take general winter health precautions. Wash your hands frequently. Be careful eating at some of the buffet meals, and simply don't touch your face unless you wash your hands first. These are bugs that are passed thru touching things, sharing drinks, touching door knobs.
I look at it this way - you can get the flu at work, school, shopping, or basically doing any daily activity. Go relax, have a great time, and just take the same precautions you would during any flu season and you will BE FINE!!!
Enjoy your honeymoon!!! - It sounds great!

Don't worry... Have a great time! I am sure the cruise lines that have not been affected by this are cleaning up their act just in case.

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

Don't panic, you will be fine. Just think of all the ships out there right now that have no problems whatsoever. I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise exactly one year ago and it was amazing. My Mom and Dad just returned from a Royal Caribbean cruise last week, they loved it and nobody got sick. The news loves to sensationalize, ignore it, you will be fine.

Re: Help Cruise stress!!!

Try not to worry. You will make yourself sick just thinking about it. Just in case bring along a bottle of Pepto.
