I think they are cute...but honestly, I would hate to see you stuck with a bunch of S&P Pea Shakers, but it's your wedding, so go with what YOU want to do.

okay so maybe i am going about this favor thing the wrong way.

For those of you (and it seems to be a lot) that think they both stink.. What do you guys recommend for types of favors then?? Im really like a wedding newbie like my title claims. Im not really an expert (or no where near) on what to do for weddings (hence why I signed up for this site).

Any advice?? I dont want to spend a lot of money on favors because I have a tight budget!! But i dont want everyone leaving their favors behind either.

ID appreciate it if you can even include pictures of types of favors your doing so i can get an idea :)

Honestly, the only favors that I really love from weddings are ones that I can eat A lot of people won't use things because they don't go with their own home decor and they just end up stashed in a drawer somewhere. At least I know thats what happens to me. Maybe think something edible like chocolates wrapped up nicely. JMO though, its your wedding and you get to decide!

I like things that people can use.
Picture frames are nice because you'll use it, especially when the bride and groom send a photo with the thank you card.
I had shot glasses.

I voted for neither. I don't think they're ugly exactly, but I don't think they would appeal to the majority of guests. Sorry I voted without giving you some other ideas at first.

I like to receive edible (or drinkable) favors. My sister had cookies in the shape of her gown. They aren't too expensive. Other people I know have given chocolates, votive candles, wine bottle openers...

I wouldn't stress or go crazy over the favor. U can definitely find cheap things.

I think favors were one of the first wedding planning things I did. :)

We decided to make a donation in lieu of a traditional favor. We are making a donation to the American Cancer Society and they are giving us scrolls to give to the guests. (FH and I both lost loved ones to cancer.)

i actually prefer favors that i can use (like S&P shakers) rather than chocolates or other edible items.

i LOVE the idea of S&P shakers, but that's just me because in my family favors are usually things you can use.

In your family, what is normally given as a favor?

Stick to favors that people will either use or eat. You could do CD's, coasters, bottles of wine or even truffles. I did truffles as my place cards and I got a great deal on them at the Lindt outlet. Also, I did bamboo plants. I made them myself. It took me like 2 hours to put together 170 of them. In the end, the cost me like $2.50 each (give or take) and they were a major hit. Personally - i think they are both cute - i love the peas in a pod thing.

I think that the peas are a cute idea. I tend to like favors that can be used. DH & I went with photo coasters. We paid under a $1.00 for a set of coasters from Blue Rainbow Designs.com.

I have 2 ideas for my own wedding....so maybe they can help you...or maybe not. As my name suggests, my new last name will be Brady, so I am looking into small bottles of Brady's Irish Cream to give out....maybe it's a little corny, but I love the cream and I know the majority of my guests will go nuts over it as most of them are Irish and anything with alcohol in it, they will drink.
I am also considering to have wine glasses personalized. You can go to www.discountmugs.com and check out all different types of glasses to personalize. Some are as cheap as $1.00 per glass. I like this idea because my parents did the same thing at their wedding and plus, I figured if I get stuck with a bunch, I won't mind because it is our names on them. I hope this helps, but if it doesn't, just think of things that you and your fiance like and maybe you can incorporate it into a favor of some sort. Just keep thinking, you'll figure it out
