Help Different Diamond shapes

I'm going to get an eternity band. I'm looking for the one with most sparkle/fire to it. I can't decide between radiant, asscher or cushion.

Please help ladies!!

not sure about cushion....but i KNOW radiant and asscher are both BEAUTIFUL cuts!

What's the major difference between the radiant and asscher?

I always thought round gives off the most sparkle?

I think you're right, but I don't want the round diamond eternity band. I want it a bit different.

A round has more facets so it will sparkle more. Between an asscher and a radiant - you will get more sparkle from an asscher. Cushions are beautiful and will definitely give you sparkle, but they are more rare. They not really made into eternity bands. You will usually see round or princess shaped diamonds in an eternity band.

As I'm sure you know, the sparkle will come not only from the cut of the diamond, but from the color and clarity, as well.

Ascher is more shiny and sharp looking than cushion. I have a cushion engagement ring (which I wanted SO badly and FH is just the best for going out of his way to find one) and although it's fantastic, it's not particularly zingy (like me!)

Of the three shapes you mentioned, the radiant and cushion will sparkle the most. Asschers don't have as many facets, so like an emerald cut, it doesn't sparkle as much.

Yes. While cut and clarity do factor in to the 'sparkliness' of a diamond, the key is - the more facets, the sparklier it will be.

I would take a look at some of the forums on Pricescope - it's a fabulous website - very educational.

These aren't the nicest diamonds, but here's a reference chart. You can see that while the asscher and emerald cuts are beautiful (I have an em cut e-ring!), they do not sparkle as much, and have a 'flatter' look to them because there are fewer facets.

round sparkles most because it has more facets or cuts for light to enter. however all shape diamonds sparkle..it really depends on how well your jewler cuts the diamond. its just as important as color carat and clarity. I think all three you chose are very nice choices. i have a cushion, and it def. sparkles, but they are rare...see my albums for pics

Yes, round definitely sparkles the most; because of it's cut and number of facets it gets the most refraction of light. You just need to make sure that you pick diamonds for you band that are 'Ideal' cut diamonds, aka diamonds with a triple 'very good' rating or higher (Excellent) for the Cut Grade, Polish & Symmetry. It doesn't matter what shape you get, if you don't get a triple 'VG' rating or better the diamond's light refraction (i.e. sparkle) will be greatly diminished b/c of poor cut grade. Trust me, I know A LOT about diamonds. My fiance and I looked at over 150 diamonds (he probably looked at more), before we decided on my ring. Sparkle isn't an accident. It can be quantified by quality.
