Help-dress does not fit

Help-dress does not fit

So, I just tried on my dress and it doesnt zip up in the mid section of my back. I knew when I got the dress it was a little small but I figured I would be able to lose the weight and it would fit. I fell in love with the dress and it was discontinued and the only one left so, like an idiot i bought it. So, my question is, if anyone knows, do you think the dress can be let out. I bought it from davids bridal. It needs about an inch maybe inch and a half let out. It fits around the waist and the bust area fine, everything else is fine except for getting the zipper up the mid section of my back. Im stressing out. I have a fitting on the 26th so Im sure I'll know by then but I was anxious to see if anyone had a problem with a dress not fitting. My worst fear is having to buy a new dress. But if I have to I will. I just love my dress :(

Sorry for venting, im just really sad. I should've lost the weight. :(

Don't worry. Usually the dresses have built in extra fabric so letting it out an inch should be fine.

You can most likely let it out up to 1/2'... I doubt it will have mroe then that amount of seam allowance.

Is it the type of dress that you can possibly add a corset back like the tie up with a panel underneath? Then that could possibly be a solution...

If not... then you would need to add panels on the side but you would need to order the fabric, make sure it matches the same fabric as you have regarding dyelots... and it might get a bit costly to do all of that... BUT it def is an option.

Good Luck.

You can lose the weight! Try Weight Watchers. You still have plenty of time.

Either way, I am sure that the dress could be let out! Maybe, if it doesn't have it already, a seamstress could add a corset back.

Good luck!

Re: Help-dress does not fit

thank u guys for your vote of confidence and help. my sister suggested trying the corset back too. i will find out on the 26th. i just dont know how that would look with the dress. I'll let the seamstress do her job. lol.
It would be so much easier if i didnt love the dress so much. Im putting myself on a strict exercise and diet. I have to make this dress work. lol.
One more question, if she can let the dress out, does that mean if i can lose the weight, she takes it all back in? lol. I can see this costing me a fortune. Im really stressing too much about this but it is my wedding dress and I don't want a new or different one. Ok, sorry for venting.
I love this website, it's really helped me out so much!

You'll be fine, you still have plenty of time left. Talk to them, see what your options are.

what are you doing here? go work out

Don't you worry, you have 4 months to go and if you work out 3-4 times a week you you'll definitely loose 2 inch or more. Try lifting weight..it works the best.

good luck!!

I would honestly reschedule my first fitting until two months before the wedding. You don't want to have too many fittings (letting dress out, taking it back in) b/c I would think it can change the overall look of the dress if it's altered too many times. You have over 4 months until your wedding, so I wouldn't stress too much about it. If you lose 5 pounds it will probably fit perfectly!

My cousin's BM dress is from there. She gained weight and it didn't zip either. My seamstress took out the dress a 1/2 inch, then my cousin needs to lose ome weight.

I agree with this. Definitely reschedule your first fitting. You have plenty of time to lose a few pounds if you want to. They say you only need to go about two months before for a first fitting, so you could start your fittings at least 8 more weeks from now!!
