We're having a difference of opinion on the subject, so I thought I'd ask the question here:
Our engagment party is this Sunday. Its a brunch at a restaurant that we have all to ourselves. It starts at 11:30 a.m. We decided on a brunch because we wanted to keep things on the casual side, but its still a nice place.
My mom thinks he should wear a suit & tie -- that as the guests of honor we should be more dressed than the rest of our guests
FH think he should wear shirt & tie, no jacket. And if he has to wear a jacket, then a sports jacket.
I'm in the middle of this, and really don't know what the right answer is!
ETA: any suggestions welcome! if you have any other ideas, please share 'em!!!

My FI wore a sports jacket & tie to our Saturday night e-party.
Funny though- I had the same argument w/ my Mom about this.

I think he should wear a suit and tie, especially since the outfit you're wearing is a bit more fancy. You guys should be the best dressed there. He can always take the jacket off.

We went out today and got him a sport jacket to wear with the shirt & tie we bought the other day. I think it'll be perfect.
