Help! Enough time for pictures?

Help! Enough time for pictures?

I want to have enough time between the ceremony and the reception to take pictures.

The church - 3:00-4:30 (includes receiving line)

Coctail hour - 6:30

Distance between the church and the reception is 1/2 hour.

This leaves us with about 1.5 hours to take pictures at Carlyle on the Green.

Do you think I will miss some of the coctail hour?

I am not seeing my fiance before the ceremony. Should I see him before the ceremony to get more time between for pictures? I don't want to miss my coctail hour!!!

Please help!

I am sure you will have enough time. We are getting married at our reception hall so we don't even have time between the ceremony and cocktail hour to take pictures.

Are you taking them all before?

I think that will be enough time. We have to take our photos before because our parents thought it was so rude to make your guests sit around for 2 or 3 hours between the ceremony and the cocktail hour. So we only have one hour between and it is meant for church photos, receiving line, and family photos (pics with aunt and uncle, cousins, etc.) (our reception is across the street from the church.)

I think thats enough time. Im going to have 2 hours (Im doing mine before the ceremony) when in doubt, ask your photographer. He/she may be able to knock out all your pics in 1/2 an hour OR he/she make take A LONG TIME with them. JMO

Thanks everyone. I still don't know what to do. I am thinking of moving my church time up so that there isn't a long wait for the guests between. I am so confussed!!

Re: Help! Enough time for pictures?

I think that should be enough time since you are taking pictures on the grounds of your hall, but if you are feeling uneasy about it, maybe you can move the cocktail hour up to 7PM just to be safe.
My ceremony starts at 3:30 (it is not a mass), I will be out of the church by 4:30 then we are heading to Old Westbury Gardens for an hour and a half of pictures, then we will get to the North Ritz Club hopefull just before our 7PM cocktail hour begins so we can get the necessary family shots done. This way I don't have to worry about posing for another picture the entire night. Our hall is only 9 miles from our church and OWG is right in between the two.

EvenEdan... You don't mind the ceremony and reception time difference? That is a concern of mine, but if you want time for pictures, it is the only thing to do, i guess.

I don't want to move the coctail hour up to 7, because it is on a Sunday night, and I don't want anyone to leave early.

Thanks

I am also thinking of not doing a full mass.

Sweetie we are in the same situation....
church at 3:30...I am not doing a receiving line...
1/2 hour to drive there
Cocktail hour 5:30...
you have plenty of time...
I am taking pics at the sand castle...I will not be at the cocktail hour...I will be taking pics the whole time

I guess it depends on how many pictures you want. We have 3 hours for pictures.

Re: Help! Enough time for pictures?

I am in the same boat and I think I have enough time.
Church (full mass): 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. (that is with a receiving line (which I know is going to form even though I don't want any) and pictures inside/outside church)
The Manor East is about 40 minutes away (if there is no traffic). So we (and our guests that come to church) should arrive (if no traffic) about 4:30 p.m.
Pre-cocktail hour: 5:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Cocktail hour: 6 p.m.
This gives us about an hour and 1/2 too to take all our pictures. I do not want to miss more than about a 1/2 hour of my cocktail hour.

Re: Help! Enough time for pictures?

same boat here. we were told by 2 ppl that we wouldnt have enough time for anything and would miss our cocktail hour.

church is at 4:00 and we have to be done no later then 5:15 because there is a 5:30 mass. So we have to be done with the mass, receiving line (which i dont want to do because of time constraints but will wind up doing it) and take pics inside and outside of the church.

our cocktail hour is at 7.

so we figure we would do pictures at forest park from 5:45 - 6:30ish then head over to ME and maybe miss about 10 or 15 minutes of the beginning of cocktail hour.

At around 7:45 or 7:50 we figure brian and I can step away for a few minutes and take some pics in the hall.

in my mind it seems ideal. in everyone elses we would miss our entire cocktail hour because of the photo's between the church and the hall.

this has been an on going argument with Brian

Who is seeing their fiance before the ceremony?

If I have a space of 1.5 hours to take pictures, I don't think I will need time befor the ceremony with Matt to take our pictures.

Am I old fashioned to NOT want to see him before???

FI and I thought about pics before the ceremony but we got stoned for even thinking it. everyone yelled at us and told us its forbidden and the groom is not to see the bride before the church.

so we got rid of that idea

I thought about taking pictures before but once I mentioned it to my FI, he thought I was crazy. He is very old-fashioned in that sense.

He doesn't even want to go to the cocktail hour, he wants to be introduced into the wedding. Oh well. I got to make him happy

I am not seeing my FI before. We are both old fashion when it comes to the groom seeing the bride before the wedding.

Hey! I thought I was the only one! I like the idea of him seeing me at the ceremony for the first time. I hope he likes my dress.

He is the type who says, 'Why don't you wear a pair of mules with that skirt?' (He's not gay)
