Hello, I recently started my 4-month old boy on rice cereal and he loves it. He used to take 30-32oz of formula/day, but since starting the cereal, he's only taking around 25oz. When he takes 3tbsp of cereal (which he finishes easily), he either doesn't want the bottle or will only take 2 ounces instead of the usual 6 or 7. I'm having to space out the cereal feeding and the bottle feeding by about 2 hours. Does anyone else have this problem? Will he eventually be able to take a full bottle along with the cereal feedings? Also, he's currently taking 3tbsp of cereal 2x/day and has been doing well for a few weeks; should I increase to 3x/day, move on to oatmeal or other solids, or wait until he can take a bottle with the feeding? Thanks!!

Re: Help! Feeding schedule after starting rice cereal
I started with oatmeal first, which was recommended by my doctor. Both of my boys became constipated with rice cereal and then in turn ate and drank less and were a bit cranky.
I wasnt really sure I understood your question, but I can tell you they will let you know if they are still hungry. Sometimes my boys would eat eat eat and then some days nothing.. I noticed they were eating more when they were supposed to be going through growth spurts..
Its all a big puzzle.. Good Luck and if you are really concerned I would just call your doctor.
