My FH and his friends want to play golf the Friday before the wedding.
Can anyone recommend a course in Suffolk County? Our first choice was the Hamlet, because it's so close to where they're staying, but the green fees are $95, which is a more than he wants to spend.
Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Help finding a golf course...??
Rolling Oaks in Rocky Point is a pretty good course. It's right on 347. There is an executive course by the mall, but I don't remeber the name of it. The other one I've played is out by Claverton, but that is a bit of a drive. Hope this helps.

There is Heatherwood which is on 347 in Setauket, across from Waldbaums and Blockbuster, and Kohls. There is also the course by the mall at the Sportsplex.

Also Smithtown Landing if you live in the town of Smithtown - you have to live in the town or be a guest of someone who does I believe.

What about Island Hills in Sayville (On Lakeland Ave. right off Sunrise Hwy) or Timberpoint Country Club in Great River. Unfortunately I don't know what the fees are so I can't help with that, but you can always give them a call.

Re: Help finding a golf course...??
When is your wedding? My fiance is playing a 9-hole golf tournament the morning of our wedding but November prices are less money. You might want to consider playing only 9-holes, 18 can take a long time, especially if the course if full. We are calling the tournament FOREbetter or Worse and will have a prize for the highest and lowest score.

Re: Help finding a golf course...??
Thank you for all of the suggestions
Our wedding is September 21st, and other than picking up their tuxedos, the guys don't have anything to do on Friday until the rehearsal at 6:30, lucky them!
I will check out the courses you all mentioned. I looked in the Newsday funbook, but I was afraid I would end up choosing a not so great course.
Thanks again- Jen

Re: Help finding a golf course...??
From my borther the 'pro' golfer!!
The Hamlet for $95, that courseis not worth it. Tell them to try:
Stonebridge Country Club (Old Happauge CC) - Short and tight Veterans Highway North Hauppauge, NY Phone: 631-724-7500
Smithtown Landing Golf Club - Average length, some tight holes 495 Landing Avenue Smithtown, NY 11787 Phone: 631-979-6534
Bergen Point Golf Club - Links Style 69 Bergen Avenue West Babylon, NY 11713 Phone: 631-661-8282
Timber Point Country Club - Links Style Great River Road P.O. Box 622 Great River, NY 11739 Phone: 631-581-2401
I've played at the 2nd and 3rd ones, and both were very nice. Middle Island tends to get crowded, but Tall Tree is readily available.

Sure its in Nassau, but how can you resist playing on the same course Tiger Woods just did?

Re: Help finding a golf course...??
you need to be pretty good to play the black course in bethpage...they will not accept mulligans and whatnots...but there are some other good courses at Bethpage....like the yellow? (If I can remember correctly)
also try Sunken Meadow State Park...they also have a decent course.
