Hi Ladies. I am pretty new to this site. I have been lurking around a little and reading all the great advice you have and hoping you can help me. I got engaged in August and we have been searching for a hall with no luck. We have seen about 15 different places and there are a couple that stick out. But we haven't felt like we found the one. Our guest list is small, only guarenteeing 75ppl and would prefer a Saturday night in June (yes, this June 2010!) We are looking for a place in Sufflok around the Smithtown area. In the spirit of keeping the price down, I am thinking of maybe looking at restaurant. Does anyone know of a restaurant in the are that has a nice room with a dance floor? Or a place that will allow a low minimum?
I have looked at Crestwood Manor, Lombardis, Larkfield Manor, Smithtown CC, Danfords, Sayville CC, Hamlet WindWatch, Chateau Le Mer, Capt Bills. To name a few.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Re: Help finding a reception hall...
I am pretty sure you can rent out the blue lagoon in west babylon...I think that would be a good option for you plus the food is awesome.

If you are willing to travel to Queens, Douglaston Manor and also Vetro, which is owned by Russo's on the Bay has a low minimum and good price.

Try contacting the Northport yacht Club. They do private parties and depending on the month you do not need to be a member. I had my law school graduation party there and it was great. Simple room but amazing views.

75 is the minimum at east wind. It's in wading river which would be like 25-30 min from smithtown.

I don't know any in Suffolk, but If you are willing to look into Queens, I would say to def. check out Verdis Whitestone (I dont think is too far from LI). They quoted me $60 for a saturday night in May. They have a restaurant/wedding venue look to me and I liked it. It just does not have some of the amenities of a reception hall, like a bridal suite or garden area. Maybe you can even negotiate the price and get it cheaper. Good luck!

Re: Help finding a reception hall...
I went to a shower at the Bellport CC earlier this year and I think they had a few different sized rooms. The food was good and it was pretty! Did you like Crestwood Manor? I liked it there. What about Old Field Club in Setauket? Three Village Inn?

did you try the Watermill in Smithtown? I dont know their minimum also you cna even do a hotel. There is one on Motor Parkway in Islandia/Hauppauge that is nice. It used to be called thewindwatch (id have to look up the new name) one of our friends got married there and it was beautiful. I am sure they have different sized rooms! if you want me to find out the new name let me know,... i can ask my friend.

Did you look at The Watermill? THey have some small rooms that are probably easier to book with little advance than their big ones.

Suffolk..Why dont you look into Carlyle on the Green, Stuart Thomas Manor-really good price!!! I mean $60/person with open bar! Umm.. Hilton-Melville-Savory Ballroom fits up to 200.

Re: Help finding a reception hall...
Thanks for the suggestions. We did look at Watermill and I was actually disappointed. The room that he showed us was so tiny. And that was all he had available. Crestwood Manor is one of my favorites but FH wasn't 100%. Three Village Inn gave me a price of $125 which was a little high for us so I didn't even bother to look! I will check into the other places. Thanks! Anymore suggestion I would love to hear them.

I went to a party at the Irish Coffee Pub and it was really nice. I think it's in East Islip--not sure price range though.

Re: Help finding a reception hall...
Nico's at The Gatsby Mansion in Islip gave me a 60 minimum for a Saturday night in august. I am not sure about June. And the prices were reasonable.
Maybe try Irish Coffee Pub, Smithtown Landing Country Club, or West Sayville Country Club... but I am not sure about them giving you a Saturday nite in June... that is peak of peaks for them...
