SO my FMIL called me and said that my FH will be taken off her insurance policy as of march1st he doesnt work he is in his last year at law school, our options are she pays cobra for him which is 550.00 a month or we get married early in a civil ceremony and thens till do our regular stuff the only people that would know would be our immeditate families. What should i do i spoke to Fh and he is all for getting married early he said im marrying you anyway in 6 months. AHHH!!

girly...i had to do that...coz i was moving...n i didnt have insurance from my work...so we did civil ..and (had a lil party..which u dont have to...do..) ehhe..very easy.....let me know if u have quest!

It is so very important to have health insurance these days that I say get married early with the civil ceremony. Then have your wedding as planned in September. Good luck!

One of my friends did it for insurance reasons - they just had their parents and siblings at the civil ceremony and then had the big wedding later.

If the issue is just putting him on your insurance policy, you don't necessarily need to be married to put him on - he can be your domestic partner (I am assuming you live together). The time period that you need to live together can range from anywhere from a few months to one year and maybe even more (it depends on your insurer, they all have different rules).
But if you go the early marriage route, don't worry! It happens all the time. Can't say more than that.

Insurance is very expensive... Does his mother mind paying for him until you get married? If not you can get married earlier and then collect more tax money next year because you will have been married longer

We went through this too bc im in law school and FH is a police officer. We decided to take out insurance through Bloomberg's Heathy NY program. I only pay 140 a month for my medical. If your FH isnt a crazy doctor go-er and you decide not to go the civil ceremony route, definitely look into it

My father wants us to do the same thing!!! Im in nursing school and my job doesnt have a part time position so i work full time and go to school full time and planning a wedding and taking care of our future step daughter!! But i cant quit my job because i wont have health insurance and fh can not put me on his plan until we are married. so the end result is i have one day off every other week!!! My next day off is feb 18 ahhhhhh....but fh;s family is against the whole thing so i have to suffer until sept
