Help! Guest lodging in Montauk or North Fork for Aug 2010
Hi folks,
I am in despair. I've narrowed down my choices for a venue to Martha Clara or Montauk Yacht Club. However, we will be in need of sleeping accommodations for up to 100 people.
In August there is a night minimum at most places. I'd prefer a renting houses but they require a week stay at $2,000.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
A second question, if we were to get married in W. Sayville (at another venue) where could people sleep? The idea of having my out of town guests sleep at hotels near the LIE and airport makes me want to cry. I love the idea of people being excited about where they are staying, and there being tons of stuff to do nearby (which would make it worth it for my guests to shell our their cash for a room.)
Thoughts??
Thanks! Jen

I would recommend Martha Clara then since it is close to Riverhead, there are three hotels right there. And I think two of the hotels are brand new.

The wedding I went to we stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Holtsville and they had a bus shuttle us back and forth.
Hotel is nice and the trip wasnt to bad.
West Sayville I think they recommend hotels over near the airport

I'm using the Hilton Inn Express in Riverhead. I saw the rooms and they're all nice and continental breakfast is included. 119 for a standard, 139 for a suite.

I have to go and look through my books but I remember there being a new hotel that we looked at in Southold. My husband is from out there and we looked at all the LI wineries.
I'll look through my stuff and let you know tomorrow.

hey jen, my wedding blog is still up at www.partyinmontauk.blogspot.com. I have links to a lot of area options. Also check out the chamber of commerce. Plus the Suffolk legislator for Montauk also owns a motel, I am sure he knows everyone.
To be honest I got some of the stuff from someone else's blog. Lodging was a challenge, both my own and for others. We stayed at the Driftwood in Amagansett.
If you go with MYC, PM me, I will give you the good and bad points, Also my review is out there somewhere.
Good luck

Hi!
Just wanted to say I am getting married at Montauk Yacht club next Sept. Booking rooms has been hard...Sept. is still huge there...especially for weddings and most places would not give me a two night minimum but I have found that some places (surf club) will reduce their rate if you do book for two nights and a few really close to the yacht club have promised to let me know within 6 months of the wedding how many rooms I can have for one night...it has been tough though trying to find the rooms out there for ONE night minimums but luckily there are a lot of reasonably priced hotels w/ two night mins.! Good luck.

I planned a bachelorette party in Montauk this past summer. We were only able to stay one night, which was a HUGE problem in August when most places require at least a 2 or 3 might minimum. The one and only place I found that would take us for one night Sole East Beach. NOT Sole East, the newly renovated one inland. Sole East Beach. Smallish, maybe 40 rooms, and super simple, but most places out there are, and it's right across from the beach. HTH!
