Help - Hair and Makeup Person Bailed on Me. Wedding is on March 30.

Hi all,

I hope you can help. The short story, I need a hair and makeup person for my wedding on March 30 and I hope to go for a trial.

The long story
I initially signed up for Sabrina Gilbert because I liked her work. About two months before the wedding, she told me that she got another gig and referred me to a colleague who was located in Manhattan and charged more than I could afford.

The hunt was on for a new hair and makeup person but after the trial, it was disappointing and I hate to admit it, I did not feel like I looked my best. I actually felt like I was overly done and my hair was done to be left down with curls that lasted for only 3 hours. During the trial we asked at least 3 times if the curls would last and Hera from Vicky5 convinced me that it would. I apologetically emailed her later to tell her it did not last and I get and email saying that she was worried about it too. I don't know if someone else responded for her but that made me feel lied to. So to do another hair and makeup trial with them, they are charging me another $100. I do feel robbed and on the hook because I don't know who I'm going to find at this point. I'm giving them another shot this weekend. I also feel confused now and I don't know what will look good on me.

To add another twist, I was asking the original hair and makeup artist I had, Sabrina Gilbert for a hair trial just so I can have a baseline of what looks good. She responded to tell that she was actually available for my wedding date again and she can do both the trial and the hair and makeup on the day of the wedding. So I emailed her to schedule the trial and she has not responded since the 6th.

Our wedding is on March 30, 2014. Please let me know if you know of any hair and makeup artist that can help me. Thank you.

I recommend Jessica from Bridal Rush for hair and Sandra Baldini for makeup. I LOVED my trials with both of them! Their work is excellent and I believe they are very ethical and committed when you book with them.

So sorry to hear about that! Try Glamour Me Up Down the Aisle. I've seen positive reviews here and they do both hair and make up. Also the Viana Hotel also has hair and makeup services as well. GL!!!

I would ask Gina From Glamour Me up down the aisle. She is awesome and sweet. I don't know if I would trust someone who booked with me that had another gig not too reliable.

Exactly this! You should try Christina Amador for makeup and Randi Ross for hair. Both travel to you day of.

contact the garden city salon and spa they will travel to you but it's an add'l cost. or you and your bridal party can go there in the morning and get ready... they do makeup there as well and their prices are reasonable

at this point, i would just try calling actually hair salons and ask if they travel rather than contacting independent stylists because hair salons have a ton more stylists and will probably have someone available for you that day!

I'm sorry I don't want to make you nervous! I just know that doesn't sit well with me. I had someone for a hair trial I was interested in booking I emailed her and she didn't get back to me for a month! To me email is so easy to respond to and most people get it right to their phone, if I was not a priority to her to book how could I trust her the day of to show up. I am sorry I would not want someone like hair or makeup to not show up on my big day! you do what you want and what feels right. I brought pics of hair trial I had to Gina at glamour me up down the aisle and she did it better and more beautiful!

It does make me nervous that she let me down before. I had a really good hair trial and she is doing a good job at being accommodating. She only charged me $50 for the hair and makeup trial which included airbrushing and has decided to give me a reduced rate for my troubles. I called Gina but unfortunately she is not available for my wedding date. I will call the other people but at this point, I think I am tired of
