HELP!!! How cold is too cold...

for an outdoor ceremony? I'm getting married this Sunday and the forecasts have the temps ranging from 50 to 55 degrees and sunny/partly sunny. If the BM's are going to have wraps and I just don't care about being cold, at what temp shoud I move the ceremony indoors?

ETA: We're getting married on-site at EastWind and the CH starts right after the 11:30AM ceremony.

Can you decide on the day of the wedding, or the evening before?

Most guests (me included ) would know to bring a jacket with them to watch the ceremony and stay warm.

DO what makes YOU happy!

I've got something that I can throw on to keep me warm!

LOL! I love you guys. See, my thought process is that if someone doesn't wear a sweater or jacket to a November wedding, then that is not my fault. The ceremony is about 20 mins long in reality and then everyone can go inside the nice, warm cocktail room. So 50 is okay? I bought wraps for my BM's so they don't freeze.

I don't think that is too cold. But how long is the ceremony? If it is like 20-30 minutes, go for it!

My SIL got married when it was that cold out, the only people who were cold were the relatives from Florida who didn't have coats.

It's fine - and if the sun does peak through, it will help warm up the air outside for the length of time we're all out there!

Besides - I know you want that beautiful scenery for your wedding photos!!

Theresa, I got married outside in June and I think some people were annoyed bc there was some wind that made it a lil chilly. You can't please everyone, you need to do what makes YOU happy. That was my vision and I'm so glad I decided to stick with it!!!!

Darlene's ceremony was outside in October and it was warmer then mine, you just never know with the weather!! It'll be November, everyone will know to dress appropriately and you can just enjoy your day!!!

I say go for it. I have high hopes for the weekend It's been relatively cold the past 2 weeks, so 50's will feel warm anyway. Besides, 20 min is not a long time to be outside.

Your hall MIGHT make the decision for you come the day of. And to be honest, one of the things I remember the most about weddings I've attended at halls on LI is how COLD I was. Wait until a little closer and make the call...today is 65 and it's a little windy...so I'm still chilly and need a coat. Unfortunately, this is going to be one of those things that you have to consider your guests' enjoyment over your own preferences.

Good luck!

Re: HELP!!! How cold is too cold...

I'm sorry, but I am going to be one of the ones who does not agree with '*****************' here. 50 degrees is COLD to sit in one spot, with possibly the wind blowing. If I was a guest, even with a sweater, I would not be happy. Two weddings I have been two in the fall where things were outside, really all I can remember about them is how cold I was during that part. If it was my wedding, anything under 60 I would not do outside. We were even going to do it inside if it was a hot and humid day because we didn't want people to be uncomfortable...

Everyone really has great points of view on this one and I completely see each side. However, after thinking about it, if given the choice between guests being a little chilly for 20 minutes and loving my ceremony pics and guest being warm and toasty and NOT loving my ceremony pics because of the venue's inside accomodations, I think I may just go with the outdoors. Is that selfish? Probably. I'm only a bride once so I really do agree with the girls who said I need to do what is best for me. Anything under 50, it's inside. Over 50, it's outside. Thanks ladies!
