We have a Christmas party every year, but last year it was a little stressful doing all the cooking and it got very $$ after buying all the food & drinks. So some of my co-workers suggested having everyone bring a dish (I guess like a potluck) which is fine since people usually offer to bring something anyway, but how do you word this on the invite? Also, would you think this is tacky? I really want to have the party as it has been really fun the last few years we have had it, but I just don't want to get stuck in the kitchen again. Please ladies, any advice would be helpful

I think it is perfect! I went to a christening where everyone made something, and it was great to have a variety to choose from.

on the invite say something about bringin a delicious holiday meal...
offer a prize maybe for the best presentation or best tasting..(incentive to bring yummy food>?)
i dont kno maybe i watch too many of those bake offs on tv..i watched the pillsbury one..
yah so...maybe u can do something like that.

my friend has all kinds of books about this kind of stuff and I specifically remember it saying that if you are having a potluck, you need to try to be specific about what people bring or you will end up having 5 of 1 thing and zero of something else.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still not sure how to word it on the invites. I am trying to find a cute way of phrasing it and specify a course at the same time
