help!! how many people go away during the week of 4th of July?
I never travel far or have 'vacation plans' during the 4th of July holiday but i am worried b/c my wedding is July 1st and a lot of people say that people travel during that time.
is this true? b/c i never really travel but is this a big getaway week for people? do any of you girls travel that week?
must add that this year, 4th of July falls on a wednesday, my wedding is on a sunday..

FH and I usually go upstate to see his fam that we don't get to see very often. It easier for us since we dont have to take anytime off from work.

Did you send out STD's? Sometimes it's the best thing to do when your wedding is on a holiday weekend.
I don't really travel either unless it's down the Jersey shore, but that was only b/c I was paying for a shore house. I prefer to stay local and BBQ, drink beer, etc. We had 3 weddings last year that fell on holidays... Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day and Thanksgiving and we went to all. Just let people know b4hand.

well what about in my case, my wedding is sunday and the the 4th is a wednesday...
do people normally take off the whole week? or just the weekend leading up to the 4th?
i just never thought the 4th would be such a hot travel period

It depends on where the 4th lands. I would think more people went away last year then will go this year because jobs sometimes give you the monday if it falls on the tuesday.
I like to go away that week because I can attach my vacation to a holiday day and not have to use another vacation day.

i only sent STDs to people that were invited to my e-party. I have about anopther 80 or so that were not invited to the e-party so they did not get a STD..

To be honest we typically do go on vacation that week but if I were invited to a wedding I would work my plans around the wedding. My cousin had his wedding exactly on the 4th when it was on a Sunday 3 years ago and he had a pretty good turn out.

My wedding is June 30 - the day before yours - I wouldn't worry about it too much - I sent out STD's for mine WAYYY in advance to try to avoid that - whoever wants to come will come!

I think you are safe this year because it falls on a Wed and I am sure most people that do go away, will hold back this year.

I don't usually travel that week. Most people who travel for the 4th probably would leave the 2nd or 3rd. You should be safe the weekend before

almost every vacation I've ever been on has been between 6/15 and 7/6.......... and every one I came back between 7/4 and 7/6......

I'm getting married 7/7/07 and a few of my guests have commented that they were thinking of going away that week, but when they found out my wedding would be that Saturday, they decided to do their trips another time. My hairstylist also was planning to take a cruise this week, but when he realized my wedding was then, he made other plans.
Definitely send Save the Dates. It is a potentially busy time of year for people with school-aged children because many people go away the first week the kids have off, which means they would be coming home the first weekend of July. If your guests know your wedding is 7/1, they can make it a point to get home by then.

People who want to go to your wedding will be there. If you sent of STD you should have nothing to worry about.
