help!! how many people go away during the week of 4th of July?

I never travel far or have 'vacation plans' during the 4th of July holiday but i am worried b/c my wedding is July 1st and a lot of people say that people travel during that time.

is this true? b/c i never really travel but is this a big getaway week for people?
do any of you girls travel that week?

must add that this year, 4th of July falls on a wednesday, my wedding is on a sunday..

People who want to go to your wedding will be there. If you sent of STD you should have nothing to worry about.

I completely agree. I honestly do go away for 4th july weekend mainly b/c its my bday, but if i were invited to a wedding i wouldnt go away. You have nothing to worry about

I go away from Saturday to Saturday of that week.....so I guess 6/30 through 7/7

but if I had a wedding to attend, I wouldn't go

My wedding was July 7 and we invited 202 and we only had 150 even though we sent our STD's out one year in advance. Alot of people go on va-k for that weekend.
DH & I do too.....we usually like to go away for the 4th, we did last year and this year we're not going to, we're leaving a few days after to go on a va-k so our one year annivrsary lasts longer...[kinda] LOL

But yes, for some reason 4th of July, the week before and week after is a big va-k week.

But remember this: the people who want to be there----WILL BE THERE!

if u sent out stds, i wouldn't worry - those who want to be there will...usually 4th plans are made closer to the 4th so it shouldn't be a problem

i honestly never considered 4th of July week to be such a prime time to go away.

but everyone helped eased my mind! thanks girls!
and i am going to send stds to those that did not get one

I don't if it makes you feel any better. People I am sure have known when you wedding is for a while so I wouldn't worry about it too much!

I go away with my friends every July 4th weekend, it's tradition, but I don't think you need to worry at all about people not being able to go to your wedding...
The 4th is weird this year because it's midweek, so most people probably won't go away because there's no 3 day weekend!!
Don't worry, it'll be fine!!!
People are going to come to your wedding, because they want to be there...holiday weekend or not!!

Its a big time to go away, bc well for one its a holiday and any most holidays people like to go away bc of the whole party atmosphere or whatever...Like younger people go places to party all weekend and its a good time for families to go away.

The reason why is bc most people take vacation from work in july or august...They'll pick that weekend for one bc they have a day off regardless so this way you go on vaca, put down for less days and come back right after the 4th...so basically it gives you extra vaca days. Did i explain that right, hope it made sense lol.

Some people go every year to certain places bc its tradition, such as lets say marthas vineyard for example, if your family goes there every year and you do all the islands 4th of july celebrations and all that

But if i had a wedding of a close friend or family member then i would not schedule a vacation around that time

my wedding was saturday july 1st (4th of july weekend basically) , we sent out STDs early in advance...we had A LOT of ooters and most came! people who had to fly/come from far away made a vacation out of it...if they want to be there , they will!

well what about in my case, my wedding is sunday and the the 4th is a wednesday...

do people normally take off the whole week? or just the weekend leading up to the 4th?

i just never thought the 4th would be such a hot travel period

Hmm... don't worry too much but some people might be away. For me, I'm off that week on vacation so we happen to be going away (leaving 6/29 and coming back on 7/5 or so)... so we would be away during that time but we don't normally do that-- just this year.

Normally, I have a paid vaca from work and I just spend it relaxing-- but we are going to DC this year for the fourth and just to see it!!! We wanted a getaway ALONE before the wedding lol without families!!!! hahaha....

But did you send out STD's?? I'm sure you'll be OK-- if I had known that I had a wedding I would have never booked that trip so I think your loved ones will consider you!
