My wedding is the day before independence day. I already ordered invitations, however, my mom and FMIL decided to add some events to this weekend long wedding adventure. On Independence day, the day after the wedding, my FMIL wants to host a brunch at the hotel for everyone staying over and to those who are close enough to come. Then, my mom wants to invite everyone to her annual bbq at her house.
So, my question is...do they both send out invites for these things separately? Do I keep them separate from the wedding invitation because they are done already? Do we just put it on the website and make sure everyone who does not have computer access knows by word of mouth? I am so confused as to what to tell them.
Talk about party over-kill.
What does everyone think? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

That's so nice that the FMIL and your mom want to host your guests all weekend. I would honestly say keep it far was from the invites, while it's associated with the wedding, it's really not. Treat the brunch the night before as though it was a rehearsal dinner. You can buy separate invites and have your MIL send them out. You can also put it on the itinerary if you are making bags for the hotel rooms to your out of town guests. As for the annual BBQ, I would have my mom just do word of mouth for that. The same way she would do it every year.
But DEF keep it separate and away from the wedding invites!

Always separate. You need separate invitations for each event around the wedding. ESPECIALLY if not everyone is invited. People will assume that since they got an extra invite in their invitation, everyone else that got invited to the wedding also got invited to the extra events.

Definitely keep it separate! Also the invitation should be from your mom and fmil. I would leave it to them as to how they want to handle the invite part (wether word of mouth or invitations) I think its a nice idea!
