Are you talking about the inner or outer envelope?

I had a similar situation when I was sending out my STD's, my cousin is married but kept her last name and has a daughter with a different last name from a different relationship...

I addressed the envelope to all three of them (each on a separate line). Not sure if this correct but, I couldn't find any 'etiquette' information on this type of a situation.

yeah this is for the outer envelope...I'm just not sure of the proper way to address it.

on the outer envelope
Mr. John Smith
Ms. Jane Doe

and then on the inner envelope
Mr.Smith
Ms. Doe
Christopher

but if u're not having an inner envelope then
on the outer envelope:
Mr. John Smith
Ms. Jane Doe
Mr. Christopher Smith

OH so you would put the son's name on it too...ok!
I wasn't sure if i should put his name on the invite or put him as a guest...as horrible as that sounds!

Thanks!

Re: Help! How would you word this...

outer envelope:
(this is the proper way to address non-married live-ins...and just writing the son's name is how you are supposed to write out a 'traditional' married couple with children)

Mr. James Uncle
Ms. Sally Girlfriend
Son
1234 Their Street
Their City, US 12345

inner:
depends on how formal....

James, Sally and Son (informal...what we did)

Mr. Uncle, Ms. Girlfriend, Son

really, it kind of depends on what you want to do for the inner.
