HELP, I felt our first florist was like a butcher!!!
We just visited the first florist on my list, and he didn't seem to offer much option, except for what I suggested... He didn't seem to have the creativity and rather wanted me to tell him what to do or show him the picture, rather than make his own suggestions. He's been in business for 65 yrs, and I know of one knot.com bride who's used him and was happy. Is this normal? I felt like I wasn't offered enough options as to what kinds of flowers and greens can be used... Am I the one supposed to come up with 'the bouquet' or should I just lead him in a certain direction and he can make suggestions? How is the visit with the florists supposed to go? The guy can make what we want him to, has decent pricing and offered flexibility with contract, but I am not sure how its supposed to work. And his attitude towards flowers was kind of that of a butcher rather than a designer!!!
Please help!!!

Re: HELP, I felt our first florist was like a butcher!!!
go elsewhere!I booked my florist because of his creativity and passion for flowers. You shouldn't settle for less.
the florist can deisgn exactly what you want if you know what that is, but they should also be able to offer you ideas and suggestions if you need/want them.
check out John at Flower Michele - it will be the complete opposite experience and your flowers will be amazing (mine were).

Definately use someone you are comfortable with. I went to someone that sounded exactly like you described and it just gave me an uneasy feeling thinking he didn't care about my wedding at all. I ended up booking with a terrific woman who has great ideas and was willing to work and talk about my ideas as well.Good luck!!!

I felt this way about some florists I visited too. Being that this is their profession, I wanted them to help me develop my general ideas into specific floral arrangements. I also picked Flower Michele because he was able to do just that. I could not be any happier or more comfortable with my decision. Why don't you give him a try, see what you think?

I chose In Full Bloom, which is a smaller shop and very friendly. Basically I sat down with Marie, showed her the bridesmaids dresses and told her some general preferences, and she then came up with great ideas on colors and detail. I was very pleased. You definately can expect to find a florist full of advice if that is what you want.

The same thing happened to me when I visited my first florist. Keep looking because that is not the way it should be!!! I ended up with Flowers by Michele. John was so creative and when he was talking about my arrangements he was as excited as I was.

A great florist is Stefans out of Cedarhurst. He gives you a lot for your money, the work is consistantly gorgeous and knows how to do a wedding in your vision. I am not sure of their number but Neil and Steve are pretty popular guys there.
