Help-I need to vent

Help-I need to vent

I don't know how to handle my situation. My 19 yr old niece lives in Fl. She is pregnant and due in Feb. 2007. I am getting married in March 31, 2007. Being that our family is really spread out she called and asked me if I would mind having the baptism on the Sunday after my wedding. I told her that I didn't not mind at all. My older sister is helping them organize it because she also lives here on LI. Yesterday she called me to ask what time my ceremony is on Sat. I asked why and she said that the church doesn't baptize on Sundays and they will only do it on Sat and she said that being that my ceremony is at 1 pm she wants to do it at 9 am ON MY WEDDING DAY!!! I said are you kidding, it's my wedding day plus on top of that neither me, my twin(my MOH), my mom etc.... are not going to be able to go. She said: Of course not. HELLO??!!! It's like she doesn't even give a crap if I go or not... I don't know how to handle this. I am soooo desperately trying not to be a bridezilla about this....

Re: Help-I need to vent

how can you plan a whole baptism before the baby is born???

seriously. . .the most advanced doctors dont know EXACTLY what day the baby will be born - they mess it up all the time. .

i mean - babies are born WEEKS late all the time . . .or weeks early!

besides - why does it have to be EXACTLY in that weekend?? that seems so odd to me!

i dont think you are being bridezilla. . . actually the opposite because you would like to be there for your niece!

there is a lot of time left, maybe she will change her mind but that is so odd!

ETA: ok i guess you can plan a baptism before the baby is born now that i am thinking of it. . .but this early?!

Well if there's no way for her to have the christening on the sunday after your wedding then I say let her do it. It's not going to stop anyone from coming to your wedding. I know you want to be there but if she does it another time and it's in Fla. will any of your family be able to attend? You might miss it then too anyway. Concentrate on your day you have enough to deal with and let her deal with her thing. It'll turn out okay.

that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, how does one have the balls to even ask that of a bride? Besides, the baby does not have to be baptized the week after it is born!! My sister just had a baby last week and we are waiting until Dec. to have the baby baptized because that is when my brother will be home (he lives in Greece)! Your cousin is being selfish, but don't forget, she is only 19 so she probably is also very naive. Tell her NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!1

I usually don't think people have a reason to go bridezilla on others but in this situation you most definitely do! Tell her it would REALLY bother you if she did that! I mean the baby isn't even born yet!

My niece isn't pushing for my wedding day, it's my 52 yr old sister( her aunt) that wants to do it on my wedding day.

Then she should definitely know better. Since this is your sister then you should calmly speak with her about how you think that you think that since each event is so special, they should both deserve a separate day....I don't mean to be like this, but if my sister even suggested that I would send her to the insane asylum.

I would enlist every family member , friend, and for that matter, stranger, I could to tell her, in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that her idea is completely inappropriate, disrespectful, unrealistic, rude, selfish, shall I go on??? I am the least bridezilla girl you can find, and I think she is out of her mind. People get crazy with weddings, but IMHO even crazier with babies. How on earth does she know exactly when she's having this kid??? Planning a baptism this far in advance is ludicrous, who knows how things will play out???
Stand your ground on this one, definitely NOT bridezilla on your part.

I don't blame you. I would be PI$$ED off!!! She should just do it when she gets back to Florida and whoever can come, can come. That is very rude that she put you in an awkward situation.

Why do they have to baptize this child a month after they are born? Isn't the average three months old to have their baptism? They absolutely positively have to have it your weekend? Sorry you have to deal with this. I don't think you're a bridezilla, I would have the same reaction.

People can be so inconsiderate. Why can't she wait another week. That really *****. Im sorry that you have people in your life who only think about themselves.

I understand that she wants to do it when all the family is together, BUT SERIOUSLY?!?!?! You were being very nice to say okay to it being the day after you wedding, but ON your wedding day?!?!? I don't even know what to say! And it's not often that I don't know what to say.

That is just absurd! Did everyone fall off the deep end? That is just too bad they don't baptize on Sundays...pick a different church or don't do it. That is just outrageous that they would consider something like that.
