Ok, ok. I need help ladies. Everyone thinks that they will be coming to our wedding. Never mind the invites haven't even gone out yet. I've been trying to figure it out for quite a while now. Is it crazy to insert a line that says ' _ of _ ' will be atteding? The second blank would already be filled in by us and they would have to indicate how many of that # would be attending. My worry is that, since we both have big families and many friends, if we don't indicate this people may just assume that they can piggie back others who were not invited. Ladies any help you can offer would be great because we are supposed to be ordering the invitations very soon. Thanks

I don't think it's crazy, it's quite commonplace now. Especially b/c it seems everyone and their mother has forgotten their manners.....

Agreed! If people didn't have such nerve, you wouldn't have to worry about it. And really, the only people who will think it's classless are those who were looking to find a way to add their kids' names onto the RSVP card!!!! I just don't get it---if you were an adult with children, wouldn't you want to enjoy a wedding reception without having to look after your kids???? And do little kids really enjoy receptions geared for adults?

I am thinking of doing something similar too. We had our engagement party in April and this gave me a hint as to what the wedding will be like... it if said Mr and Mrs they brought there kids too. Some of FHs TEEN cousins brought their boyfriends!! So rude... and they didnt even give a gift So that tells me that they will just expect their parents to give a gift for them at the wedding. Some people just don't have manners!

I want to add something like you are talking about, but in print it will say _ of 2 are attending, I'm not giving anyone the option. I got a sense from FMIL's questions about 'is the guest list large or limited' that she may want her older son's step kids and daughter (who mind you won't even be 2 years old by the time of the wedding) to be there. I get that those kids are our neice and 'step' neice and nephew, but the older kids are 8 and 11 - uhm that's half price - not free and I'm sorry after tax that's about $100 for the 2 kids... what could kids get out of a $50 meal? Take them to chuck e cheese and get over it. I'm with the comment 'why would parent's want their kids at a wedding reception' - hey, if you have a few kids, isn't it invigorating to spend a night with adults at a formal affair where you can wear something beside jeans and a mickey mouse sweat shirt... geez. My MOH even seems to be looking forward to time away from the kids. People are rude - I can't believe teens were allowed by the parents to bring dates... that's plain flat out obnoxious.
