HELP! I'm getting married in 2 weeks and my dress is ruined!
Original post by bethanyberg
Bridal Couture of Manhasset steamed my dress and ruined the material on the bodice and the pleats on the back of the train! I took the dress home in fear of it being damaged even further, now the designer is sending me a replacement train and bodice, but I need a GREAT seamstress who is awesome and can work quickly as my wedding is on October 2nd! I need them to asemble my dress and press it to perfection! I'M DESPERATE!!!! HELP!

Deb is so right but please tell who the designer is I might be able to help but must know the name first. Designers do not like to see there design ruined because that is thiere name on that gown as you go down the aisle.

Justin -- do you work in weddings? I say she goes to the bridal store and stirs up the POT really really bad. I am so steamed about this story. This really is not designers fault and the more I think about it it is Bridal Coutures problem to find her an appropriate replacement at whatever cost to them it takes and fix it no matter the time or cost. THIS is THEIR PROBLEM!!! I would call every consumer reporter that there is and undoubtedly the story will be picked up.

I do think its their fault too... they should know how to steam a dress right?

Yes, but if they screwed it up -- isn't it their responsibility to fix it? What sounds funny?

Deb no am not in weddings but did at one time work in the garment industry and do know some of the designers. ou are right it is not the designers fault but I am sure the designer would love to be made aware of what has become of something he or she takes pride in. That is where she has to start so that they get on the store as well as her. But from what I know she is dealing with some nasty people over at that store.

I am so sorry about your dress and that you are going through this situation. I did a lot odf research on this shop as choose not to deal with them at all b/c unfortunately, everything I read about them was terrible. They have several complaints against them and one of the BBB. Even worse, the complaints all have to do with alterations and their lack of compensating for their mistakes. You ABSOLUTELY did the right thing by high-tailing your dress out of there when you did. I would love to think that they have grown a set of ethics and would assist you financially and emotionally in rectifying what was CLEARLY their mistake, but I feel it is unlikely. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go in their when it is super busy and make a stink - but by all means have a backup, make your dress as beautiful as the day you fell in love with it, have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon, and then file a serious complaint against them.

There is a place in E. Rockaway - Blanchee Bridal. I think you can bring a dress in to get altered. But I am not positive so best to call first.
Also there is a lady at Macy's in Manhasset named Faye. She is their seamstress but also does it on the side outside of Macy's. There is a girl on here that used her. I will search for the post. I think Xelindrya has her number. I don't have it anymore.
Sorry about your dress - that is great that the designer is doing that for you.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this with them...They are just absolutely horrible people! I have an ongoing nightmare with them and they never take owness of anything and getting them to do anything for you except give you more worries and nightmares is pointless unfortunately. Please don't get me wrong, go in there when it is the busiest and fight like hell but make sure Jerry is there, the owner. Otherwise it is like talking to brick walls. They don't do anything or say anything without Jerry there. The only thing I could say is the best advise someone ever gave me about them, call the BBB and find out what your rights are.
Funny, I went in there with my best friend, who is a PHD in psychology, and she couldn't even reason with them...When the owner felt cornered she just exploded saying that she was upsetting me. Needless to say 5 people walked out at that time.
I have the name of a very good seamstress in East Northport that has redone many of Bridal Couture's mistakes and she is just one really sweet women! Almost like your Grandmother. I will FM you her info. If anything just call her and she will put your mind at ease and depending who the designer of your dress is call them. I called mine and he was just so incredible and made me feel at ease about everything! Good luck.
