Help! I'm going to kill FI!!!

Help! I'm going to kill FI!!!

Ok, so I think I've found THE place for our reception and both FI and I are very excited about it - or at least we were. Problem is our reception hall can only accommodate 75 people at a formal sit down with dancing. Our guest list is more like 100 so we would have to have a 'light dinner buffet' with no formal seating - just cocktail tables around the house (enough seating for everyone but only 4 to a table). Fi and I were fine with this - thought it would be nice even! So, I'm going to see the place again tomorrow to book and FI just now said 'the little tables just don't work for me' He has decided that bigger groups around the table are better and this would be stupid!!! I have my heart set on this place! UGH! Why NOW does he all of a sudden have to have an opinion about something wedding related!!! He never even cares usually!

So, now I'm trying DESPERATELY to try and get my guest list down to 75! How the heck am I supposed to do this?! I've managed to get it down to 86, but that's still not 75 and it's really the bare bones and all people who I think will definitely come! I'M GONNA CRY!!!!!

I am sorry- my fh does this too. He is completely uncaring about all wedding plans, except has strong opinions about the only things that really matter to me. It is his wedding too, though, and you really have to make this decision together. Is he helping you cut down the list at all?

Don't forget that if you invite 100, you probably will only get 75 yes's.

You really think I'll only get 75 yes's? (Spirits rising! )

I know it's FI's wedding too, and he loves the place too - just not the little tables! I just wish he wouldn't let me get all excited and then tell me the night before! I've had this appointment for over a week!!!

No, FI's not helping me cut down the guest list because his side is already the smallest side. Mine's the big side so I'm responsible for getting rid of Aunt Tilda

So, if I invite 86, then I have a really good chance of getting under 75 yes's, right? (Note to self: DO NOT send out save the date's )

Yeah, they say there is usually a 15-20% rate of no's. Or however you want to put it. So at your rate, that should put you right there at 75 or so. Then you can do things like, not invite children(if that's not a big deal to you), or not invite people with guests unless they are dating someone seriously(which is what we are doing, and I don't care if peopel don't like it! But I don't think it will be a problem). There's ways to work around it. Good Luck!

Don't cut your guest list too much. You'll definitely get some declines. I think the average is about 20%. Like the others said, if you invite 100, you should be just right!

You said before though that you thought most would come....I think 15-20% is for the average wedding, so if you're only inviting close friends and family, chances are you will have a higher rate of attendance.

I don't mean to be a downer...if you really love this place-cut away. I just know that our list was originally under 100, we are now inviting 148 people. As the date got closer, we realized how important it was to have some of these people with us, and we wanted enough people to have dancing, etc.

Just don't lock yourself in unless you're sure that you won't miss the people you're cutting out. Having the people you love there will mean more than anything.

P.S. Where is the place?
