Help! Invitation Wording with Divorced Parents...(sorry-kind of long)

Hi All..

Is anyone else going through problems with wording your invitations with divorced parents?

My mother and my stepfather (whom I am extremely close to) are paying for half of my reception. My Fiance and I are paying for everything else.

My mother threw us an engagement party and my shower and is helping me through all the planning.

My Father has not offered to give us a dime. But that doesn't mean he won't give us anything. I have no idea what he will give us as a gift. He has not helped us in any other way.

My mother is walking me down the aisle and I think that is why my father has not offered any money.

I do not know how to word the invitation. I want to say that My mother and Stepfather invite, but I do not want to exclude my father. We just went for invitations tonight and the woman said she refused to word it as
Mr. and Mrs. (My mother and Stepfather)
Invite you to their wedding of their Daughter
(My Name)
Also daughter of (My Father's Name)

She said it screams out that my father is not involved. She said I should put my father's name at the top, but then my mother has already told me she would be very upset if I did that.

Anyone have any advice. Thank you all so much!

And to add to this, my sister told me not to write...

Together with our parents. Again, my mother will be upset if we do that because my mother raised me and is now giving me away.

What if you just do:

The honour of your presence is requested at the wedding of
BRIDE
daughter of Mom & Stepdad
and Dad
and
GROOM
son of Mr. & Mrs. _____________

This way everyone's names are on the invitation but your mom and stepdad still kind of get top billing.

I agree...this may be your only option. I was thinking of together with their parents....but the actual name isn't there and I soooo know what you mean. It was important to have ALL of our parents' names on the invite... I think this would be beautiful and nobody will be offended... Good luck!

Why don't you put together with their families? That's what I will probably be putting.

ITA and also the woman writing your invites should not have a say in this. Do whatever you feel is best, not your mother or sister. It sounds as if your mother just doesn't want him recognized on the invitation and that's sounds as if it's to take a stab at him. Your wedding should not be a forum for that though.

My parents are divorced and DH and I payed for 90% of our wedding ourselves--

we chose:

Together with their families....

It worked- didn't call attention to any one set of parents and while I unerstand while people list parents when they are hosting etc. I didnt find it necessary to list all of our parents and their last names and all that jazz on our wedding invitation!! simple and straight forward-- plus a lot less words than most invitations!! lol!

how about

Mr. and Mrs. smith
and
Mr. jones
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Jane
etc.

Thank you so much everyone!

LOL..I agree. She keeps telling me my choices are going to make matters worse...I am starting to really dislike her!!!! I keep telling her she doesn't understand how serious my situation is but she keeps insisting in putting her two cents in!

I am still so confused...some people are telling me not to even include my father since he hasn't offered a dime or helped in any way with the planning, but then I'm afraid it will cause a war! UGH!! This is so difficult.
