Ok so I ordered invites through Carlson Craft and am being told that they dont send physical proofs, you cant even pay for one! They sent me a fax to proof the invite. That sounds insane to me!!!!! Am I wrong here? I almost bit the guys head off!

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
I didn't get an actualy proof invite either. I think mine were a division of carlson crafts.
I ordered mine through a store though and she called and had the proof and I went and looked at it.
I was the same size paper, font, color, everything but not on the invite paper.
I approved it and it was fine

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
in a word ... yes.
MOST invitation manufacturers only send a fax or email proof of orders.
its a proof reading copy. you already know what the invitation looks like ... it looks just like the one in the album
the small 1% of mfgrs that will send a physical sample of the invitation charge a fortune for it and are very high end companies.
its just not cost effective for them to make a plate & wet the printing press to print you one sample. .. especially since you might make changes.
sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but that's just how the industry works.

you got a real invitation with your wording printing directly on the invitation card in thermography (raised printing)?

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
Ok thanks for the advice, the person i spoke to has been doing this for over 20 years and he said Carlson Craft absolutely never makes just 1 invite, you cant even pay for it if you wanted to

honestly, i think you might be mistaken,
those are the mfgr's standard prices for a fax / email proof.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
I just got a faxed proof. The purpose of the proof is just to go over the wording, layout, etc.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
I dont think you need a hard copy proof. If you saw what the invitation looked like before you ordered it (if you ordered from a dealer's album) you just need the email/fax proof to see that the wording is ok.
Dont worry Carlson Craft has good quality invites. It will be fine.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
I didn't get a physical proof either. I was sent an e-mail proof that i read over to make sure everything was right. My physical invitation was the same as the e-mail. I was able to order a sample invite but it didn't have any of my wording or anything.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
GRRRRRRRRRRR Yea, they are charging $5 every time you need a new faxed/emailed proof. I guess I just thought you got a physical copy. I feel a lot better now that I see most of you didn't do that and it turned out ok. THANKS!!!!

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
what they do is they have a template to where the text has to go on the proof they don't physically print on the invite until your going on press and then its all being printed.
Just make sure you get everything correct the first time, make sure your directions are VERY clear and you spell check and have everyone proof it for you before submitting.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
I wish you all the luck in the world!!! I don't mean to scare you are all... as it sounds like you are well on your way with the invitations... give yourself a lot of time with them and be strong! Are you going thru C.C. directly or are you going through a store to C.C. ??
My MIL and I had had the most frustrating 2 month journey with C.C. my invitations will just ordered as of 3:58 PM today!!! (and i'm nervous because I did not get to see the 3rd set of proofs for the final time) I'm going to FM you...
But yes I was surprised too when they don't send you the actual proof just the layout and wording/ font style.

Re: HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma
My invite proofs were black and white pdfs emailed to me. It was VERY hard to see the full effect without color and everything but at least I got to proof the font, spelling and position of everything.
