HELP! Invite Proof Dilemma

Original post by JessesGirl

Ok so I ordered invites through Carlson Craft and am being told that they dont send physical proofs, you cant even pay for one! They sent me a fax to proof the invite. That sounds insane to me!!!!! Am I wrong here? I almost bit the guys head off!

in a word ... yes.

MOST invitation manufacturers only send a fax or email proof of orders.

its a proof reading copy. you already know what the invitation looks like ... it looks just like the one in the album

the small 1% of mfgrs that will send a physical sample of the invitation charge a fortune for it and are very high end companies.

its just not cost effective for them to make a plate & wet the printing press to print you one sample. .. especially since you might make changes.

sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but that's just how the industry works.

This is 100% correct. I am a production manager for a printing company and we do not print 1 actual proof. It's either a fax or a PDF. On really big jobs we will produce press proofs but you are looking at a couple hundred bucks!! It's just not cost effective.

That's NOT right NOR true. I got real physical proofs of my wedding invites. Check again!

Good Luck

Did you order from Carlson Craft?

i ordered through costco and i only got an emailed proof. yes, it would be nice to see a physical proof, but it was fine with me just the same. you still see exactly how the invite will look, just not on the paper. i don't know about you, but i had ordered a sample of my invitation before i ordered it anyway. so i already knew what the paper would be like. don't worry about it too much.
