help! Invite wording

Hi girls - I am really late ordering invites and need your help -

If we are all paying (my parents, his parents, and us) pretty much equal amounts for the wedding, is it OK to still have the wording say

Brides parents request the honor of your presence -

Or

should it include everyone.

I wanted my parents to announce it but
I just dont want to do something rude - his parents are sensitive - and everything hurts their fragile little feelings

Re: help! Invite wording

I didn't want to leave anyone out - just in case someone would get upset. This is what we had on ours:

Mr & Mrs Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx
invite you to join them
in celebrating the marriage
of their daughter
Marcie Ann
to
James Edward
son of
Mr & Mrs Xxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx
on Friday, the twenty-second of October
two thousand and four
at three-thirty in the afternoon
Saint Lawrence the Martyr
240 West Main Street
Sayville, New York

Hope this helps!

We are in the same situation. I think we're going to say something like, Together with our parents and then list our names. I'm interested to see the responses you get though. I have to come up with the wording by Monday.

I would put his parents too. Especially if they contributed as much.

My goal is to have them sent the last week in July or the first week of August. As far as the reply date, I'm not sure. I guess the person I'm ordering from can help me with that. I'm really starting to feel so overwhelmed I don't even like thinking about it.

Re: help! Invite wording

Girls, I wouldn't worry too much.
My wedding was October 22, I ordered mine June 21. I received them in about a week (maybe a week and a half). My invitations were made by Regency. Hope this helps, letting you know that it shouldn't take too long to get them.

On timing you are ok...I just ordered ine yesterday and wedding is 9/17. It will be close for me but you have plenty of time.

You could do the all encompassing 'together with our families' which I love, but my situation was equally as complicated, and I ended up having the longest invitation in the world:

Mr & Mrs Brides Dad and Stepmom and
Mr & Mrs Grooms parents
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children
Tanielle5k
daughter of Mrs Brides mom
to
Groom
on Saturday, the seventeenth of September
two thousand and five
at eleven oclock in the morning
Church info

In sum: don't worry about it too much. I got totally stressed baout the invites and trying to please everyone, and I got that mess :)

Re: help! Invite wording

Mr. & Mrs. X (brides parents)
Mr & Mrs X (grooms parents)
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their children

Corinne Danielle
and
William Bernard

friday the fourth of november
two thousand & five
at three-thirty in the afternoon
St. Williams the Abbot
Seaford, NY

I think that both parents should be included whether you do it this way or if you just put your parents name request the honour of your presence at the marriage of thei daughter (you) to fh, son of X. But if you think they will feel bad and you have a good relationship with them--discuss it if not have your FH talk to them.

We're in the same situation and when we did the first draft of invites, we just worded it :
Our names,
together with our parents
invite you to..

and all the parents were a bit offended by that!
So we ended up changing it to:

Mr & Mrs Brides parents
together with
Mr. & Mrs. Grooms parents
request the honour of your presence
to celebrate the marriage of
Me
and
Him

So far, they're all pleased with it! I think if the $ is coming from all sides, you should include the grooms parents as well, but yours go first.

And you're fine on timing - we're still getting ours sorted out with the goal of sending them Aug 1st with return date of 9/15. plenty of time!
