Help! Jewelry question

Help! Jewelry question

So my mom just told me she wants to buy me something nice for the wedding that I can wear again (she's the best!) She wants to buy me a nice necklace, and she was leaning towards pearls.

Dilemma is that I was planning on not wearing a necklace, since I'm wearing a bling-y headband, and I want to get a bling-y cuff bracelet and chandelier earrings (I love flashy earrings.)

My mom was like 'pearls match everything and you can wear it again, and it would be a nice thing to have and remember after your wedding day.' I told her I didn't think I wanted to wear a necklace, and she was like 'well, I'd get a simple one.' I was like 'wellll....I don't know if I want to wear one though.' I think it would be too much with all this jewelry.

I told my mom she could buy my earrings or bracelet if she wanted, but I told her I prob wouldn't wear thoseagain, and because of that she didn't want to get me these things. She was like 'alright, I guess I won't get you jewelry then, but think about it.' She didn't seem to understand WHY I didn't want to wear a necklace--she thinks it won't be too much.

Now I feel really bad...obviously this is a nice thing she wants to do for me and I want her to do it, because I would love to have something from her that I can wear again and think of her and my wedding day (ah, I'm getting teary writing this!) What should I do? I really didn't want to wear a necklace because I do think it will be too much, but maybe I should reconsider?

My dress is in my album...I don't have a pick of my headpiece yet but it's pretty bling-y...and with the cuff and the earrings....will it be too much? What are you girls doing?

And what should I do?

TIA!!

So sweet of her! What if you have her purchase you your earrings or bracelet, instead of getting you a necklace? You can get a really beautiful piece, and cherish those for a really long time, same as you would a necklace

my mom wanted to do the same...i told her I didn't want to wear a necklace because it would be too much. Luckily she was like ok yea you're right.

Perhaps you can wear it for your ceremony???

That is super sweet of your mom but I agree with you that it's too much around your face if you are having chandelier earrings and a sparkly headpiece. But I don't see why you couldn't wear a nice pair of earrings or bracelet again? You could wear it to black tie events and other weddings! I'm planning on wearing my DOJ again cept my headpiece

Aww - don't worry! I know how you are feeling. My parents have been so great and helpful with wedding planning, but they have different ideas and a different vision than I do about certain things, so it can be really hard to say no sometimes when you know they just want you to be happy.

Have you thought about maybe just wearing it for part of the day? I am not sure what the headpiece is like, but maybe you can wear the pears and just your veil down the aisle, and then take your veil and the pearls off, and switch into the blingy stuff for the reception?

What kind of head piece is it (headband?) Your dress is very simple and elegant (gorgeous by the way!) So the pearls would definitely go, but not sure what it would look like with headpiece.

get a necklace if she wants that you can where to shower/rd, etc etc and maybe not 'day of' but then in the future you can wear it again.

what about an ankle bracelet? or a right hand ring? or maybe wedding night lingerie? that way its still something your wearing on your wedding day that you will wear again but it wont compete with your dress and other jewelry
