so FH has decided he wants to go to services. We don't belong to a temple and of COURSE it's the last munute. ANy ideas of where we cna go that might have seats or at least room?

Where do you live? I don't know how much help I can be, since I know most shuls require you to buy tickets prior to the holidays, but i'll give it some thought.

I likein so. queens, he's in franklin square, his aprents re in brooklyn..we have cars, so we don't really care where we go. Can't be orthodox or conservadox...
leave it to FH. I told him it would be impossible but that I'd give it a try he's calling his childhood rabbi

That's a good point..I went to Chabad in college. The only thing with that is that it's an Orthodox service - no english, separate seating etc..I don't know how comfortable you'll be with that. Chabad is really welcoming though.

I think it is Orthodox - look in phone book. My temple might have tickets left. I am sending you a FM. My temple is Conservatiove, the rabbi is wonderful! It is in W.Hempstead.

I wouldnlt really be comfortable. I go to hofstra and hilell has nothing for the holidays but they try to get people tickets at local places. Of course this was the rabbi i told you about who turned me away because I'm not jewish, and really didn't like me from day 1 b/c I told him I was marrying a jewish man.

I have good friends who go to West Hempstead Jewish center - Deborah Davis and Daniel Smith. Do you know them?

Here's the website for the synagogue I was telling you about. Try giving them a call. I've been there for a Shabbat service with my friend and really liked it. They're very accepting of everyone and the rabbi encourages questions and discussions.

The congreagation is older , but we love it there- A building fund is when you pay additional dues to help the up keep of the temple. There rates are VERY reasonable too!!!

Thanks for all of your help. you're wonderful. After a million phone calls and a lot of over prices, we ahve tickets not far form FH in new hyde park. Thanks. Now I'm flipping out b/c I've got nothing to wear!
