OK which would you ladies choose? I booked with John Anthony's already but I am having second thoughts. I fell in love with the look of the place. But now, I've heard mixed reviews about the food and service. When I booked they told me that there was going to be a show/tasting there in the fall & they would notify my. They never did and I have called on several occasions and always get to speak to this NASTY lady at the front desk and never get to speak to the really nice BM. OK so now I don't even know who bought them and never knew they had claimed bankruptcy when I booked them. Now that I know this I am not to certain I want to take any chances. I'm also concerned now about pics. It doesn't seem like there are that many good locations for pics at JA's (FH & I aren't seeing each other before ceremony) SO now I am waiting for the guy to call me from chateau La Mer to make an appt. go go see it. Does anyone have any input? I have to stay within the same budget as JA's ($128 pp on a Sat night)...Anyone with any suggestions PLEASE

Re: HELP !!!!! John Anthony's vs. Chatau La Mer?????
As far as Lou being rude I will explain my first encouter with him, Me and my father and mom and FH stopped there on a Friday night in the summer when they were having a function and we just drove right up to the front and told the valet we were interested in seeing the venue for a wedding, and right away Lou came outside to our car explained everything about the venue and he told us he will meet with us the following day which he did. He was very attentive I mean coming out and talking to us when he already had an event going on there I thought was very considerate.
So I don't know how Lou could have been rude but that is just my experience with him.

We would have booked Chateau La Mer if it wasn't so far from us..which was a sticking point since we live in Nassau.
We met with Lou and he seemed more than accomodating.
Go with what you feel is right...but I think most people have second thoughts after booking a hall. I know I did.

I've only really dealt with Nick, but when I went to book, Lou came out and said, 'You are early, you have to wait because this lady made an appt. and is on time.' It was kinda rude, but I ignored him because I wasn't even waiting for him. A few minutes later, Nick met us. It's possible that on ocassion Lou takes his stress out on people, not sure, but I've heard nothing but glowing comments about everyone there. And overall, I've had nothing but good experiences at CLM.

Are you stuck on one or the other place? Perhaps you could try some of the other waterfront venues, especially if the downstairs room at Chateau is booked for the date on which you'd like to get married. There are others you might like even more--what about Capt. Bills, Windows on the Lake, Riveria? It sounds like you are shooting for south shore, water front. Just something else to throw at you. Good Luck making your decision!

i have been to both and personally i would go with CLM. everything was great at that wedding, food was awesome!! i didn't like anything about JA's, the food was so bad, CH was bad as well, the only other thing is that JA's will be under new ownership so it may be great.

I would go with John Anthony's-- I heard that their food was good and that they were recently bought by another company ( I think) -- Supposedly they will be doing major renovations and menu changes--I think you made a good choice

So what is the end result? Did you make a decision? Will it be Chateau or JA's? They are both great places with a beautiful view. Good luck!

If I remember correctly they were bought by All Star Limos and the owner of Chateau La Mer
