Can't decide between the two... I want both some traditional and photojournalism.
For Jovon I would get 1 main photographer w/ assistant and 1 photojournalistic photographer.
For Perceptions I would have Anthony and a traditional photographer.
Need opinions

they are basically the same. I told need everything in perceptions package so I need to meet with Anthony on swaping some things for others

I don't know much about Perceptions, but I loved JoVon's work and was very close to booking them.., but they were very expensive and the girl I dealt with was snotty.

JoVon has some complaints about them on the BBB website and I have heard a few not so nice stories myself.
I would go with Perceptions - their stuff is awesome!

i would def go with Perceptions, havent heard many good things about Jovon and know someone who was married 4 years ago and stillno pictures!!!!

I met with both of them and I liked Perceptions much better. I absolutely loved Anthony's work.

I used JoVon - I had Telmo, an asst and Vittorio. They were great!! The only issue I have is with a service rep that is no longer there. I love my pictures and am thrilled I chose them!

We booked Perceptions - (Also went to see JoVon) We went w/ Perceptions b/c we really liked Anthony - He's very young and laid back and friendly yet professional - We'll have him, an assistant, and a traditional photographer (as well as the videographer) I did not like that @ JoVon they would not let me meet w/ 'my' possible photographer. - Personally I think a very important aspect in choosing a photographer is finding someone you are comfortable with. -I continuously requested to meet a photographer @ the JoVon appt, and she kept telling me I'd meet him @ our engagement shoot (which of course occurs AFTER you sign a contract and leave a hefty deposit) The prices are similiar, but we were much more comfortable w/ Anthony @ Perceptions. I also liked his work much better. - It was more photojournalistic and 'artsy' IMO GOOD LUCK !!
- Our 2nd choice was Doug @ Patken.....you should check them out too!

Thanks everyone for your responses.
Just to give an update.... I was actually able to meet the photographers who would shoot my wedding. I've also believe it or not had a pleasant experience at Jovon so far...no issues. I did bring up to them about their reputation pertaining to Customer Service and album.proof timing and they said they are aware of it and are working on changes. I have not seen the 2nd photographer (photojournalists work yet-hopefully this week). They also say they will stay to the very end. I've also worked additional items into my package (If I book them). Proofs would be 800-1200
Perceptions- Anthony wouldn't budge that much, but what I didn't like was he said I would get 700 - 1000 proofs. He says the other photographer shoots a minimum of 150 proofs. Mind you I would have two photographers. If he's strictly photojounalistic then wouldn't he take more. But after coming to final agreements I found out that after 750 proofs it would be an additional $30 a roll. I also asked about staying to the end and he said he doesn't, he leaves after cake cutting, but if I wanted I could have the other photographer stay.

The way I understand it, the 'main' photographer from Perceptions is a photojournalist, who will give you about 600 proofs. The second photographer is traditional, so you need less proofs (about 150).

I'm using Lynn from Jovon and a 2nd photographer but on my contract I have them for 10 hours. My church begins at 4pm and my reception is from 7-1AM. Since I have 2 photographers, they offered to start at 2 diff. times at 2 diff. places if I wanted. I want pic of me getting ready so I may have 1 photographer at 2PM-12AM and my FI will begin w/ his photographer at 3pm with his family and stay till 1AM At least 1 photographer will be there until the end. My friends who used them before got back an entire photo box filled with proofs. It looked like 1000 or more. P.S. They used Telmo & Cesar.
