Help me!!

So we just got engaged!! We want a short engagement and are planning to get married this summer.

I don't really know where to start besides the reception hall and the date.

Since I will only have 7 or 8 months, I know things will have to be planned more quickly. Sooo where to start?!?

So far I have made appointments to look at MANY reception halls for the next two weeks. I am a teacher so I will have a week off soon where I plan on looking at more halls and looking for a dress!

Where do I go from there? Should we register now?

Any advice? I figure getting a date and hall will be the biggest first step and then I would get everything else, but I don't know when they should be done. I also don't know about some little things that I might miss. Thanks girls. Love this site

I think thats a siginificant amount to get squared aware initially.

First take care of the hall and church (if you're getting married in a church.)

Then meet with all the major vendors: photo/video, flowers, limos.

Then move on to invitations and favors.

You can register any time and start dress shopping whenever you want. Just keep in mind the time it will take for your dress to come in and then have it altered.

First, get the RH (reception hall), then you'll want to look at:

- DJs or Bands
- Flowers
- Photo / Video
- Your Dress (definitely right away)
- Bridesmaids dresses

These are things that I would take care of in the next month or so, because they book in advance and sometimes it can take awhile for things to come in.

All the girls are REALLY helpful and will help you with whatever you need. You have a GREAT start with the RH shopping. You might want to try like theknot.com or even on here that will give you a calendar for the things you should do first. Are you getting married in a church? If you are, after the RH, call your church and find out if they have your date free. While you are talking to them, also ask them if you have to sign up for pre-cana now or later. After you get that stuff out of the way, you can try to figure out what you want to do first. Try to do the big vendors, flowers, band/DJ, photo/video and then focus on the smaller stuff, favors, music, etc. But really it depends on your RH and what they give you before you can figure out the next step to your planning process.

Register as soon as you can ... doing it on the internet saves some frustratio in my opinion.

next step is getting the ceremony & RH locations ... you can't book anything until you have your date.

we booked Woodbury Country Club ... their outside area BEAUTIFUL and they're very nice people to work with. They're also fairly affordable and provide tons of food.

another step you could do before booking is getting your guest lists ready (believe me, this takes longer than expected thanks to both sets of parents lol)
