Help me find a hall PLEASE

Original post by snydl40

Let me start by saying we love the Bourne mansion. My father has offered to pay for the whole shabang, but we want to pay at least half. I don't think it's fair to make my dad pay for everything when it is our day. The bourne has a $4000 site fee (this wouldn't be bad if it was tax deductible) but I can't see paying for their grounds fees. The price is $115 pp-Sundays sept through nov or $119 pp-sat sept through nov.
More than we would like to spend because we are looking for a house.
We looked at Timberpoint CC-not our taste-but inexpensive-$63pp-sat day
Westbury manor-love the room, don't like where we would be getting married, would have to go to church or somewhere else.-$80-sunday
Larkfield manor-Love the room, but my mom got married there 2 yrs ago and I kinda wanted our own place.-$68-Sunday (b/c my mom got married there).
Carlyle on the green-beautiful-more than we would like to spend-$135 Sunday day.
North ritz club-pretty-don't like where we would be getting married-not many photo ops.-day $80, night-$135
Woodbury CC-Very pretty-didn't have many dates we wanted and more than one wedding at a time.-$80-sunday pm
Leonards of great neck-Very reasonably priced-$59-am, $63-pm-not many photo ops-pics somewhere else drag.
Watermill-$80-sunday am, $99 fri pm-very pretty, people were rude, didn't like that we could hear the cars rushing by (during ceremony).
Now, I know I'm probab;y just being a picky bi*&%, but I've had this stupid vision in my head since I was a little girl, we love nature and trees-my brother is getting married four months before us and he is doing the beach theme. We wanted a beautiful autumn theme , by a lake or something similar. Our ideal is mansions-they just take my breath away-but we have 220 people on the list and are figuring we'll end up with 150-180. With this many people we would have to separate dinner and dancing and I don't know if I can do that. Everyone seems to think it's really odd.
PS-I am not trying to offend anyone these are just our opinions.

I'm not trying to be cheap-my dad says-pick whatever you want, mom says go cheap-it's only five hours. My fiance just wants to find a place-I think I'm driving him nuts. Girls any help you can give would be immensely appreciated. Thank you Thankyou Thank you

take a look at the Riveria in Massapequa. it's on the water... really nice, cozy, rustic room with windows all around over looking the water. i went to a wedding in november there and it was gorgeous. . . the wooden, rustic room with the trees turning really added to her fall theme.

Village Club of Lake Success...I don't really know much about it but I think it has a great view of a lake, trees and all that stuff.
Good Luck!

Yes!....that place is beautiful, classy and would look gorgeous in the fall

Have you looked into The Woodlands yet? It's a mansion located on the Oyster Bay Golf Course. I was married there last week and it was incredible! No site fee, the mansion is gorgeous and the grounds are beautiful. The ballroom has french doors that line the entire room, there's tons of fireplaces too. We looked at Bourne as well, but we picked The Woodlands for our reception venue.

Good luck!

ETA:: Adding the website: The Woodlands

It looks beautiful-how many people does it fit and how much did they quote around-if you don't mind? Thanks!

I had 170 guests but my guest list was around 232. I believe the hall can hold up to 300. They have a lot of information listed on the Wedding Sites and Services website, it's listed in Nassau County.

Swan Club is beautiful and reasonably priced (we have the largest room and we are paying $90 pp for a sat. night wedding in JUNE!)

Also, if you like Leonards in Great Neck, there is a park about 5 minutes east of there across the street from Macy's in Manhasset. They have little arched bridges that cross over a small stream, and trees and some flowers. just FYI.

Good luck in whatever you decide ! ! !

Don't give up on the Bourne yet - Ben called me back several times lowering the price each time. See if you can negotiate.

Check out the East Wind... They have the Inn, The Estate or The Country Gardens. They are all great there and reasonably priced there are great ceremony sites and there are alot of great pic spots as well.

Definitely try the Swan Club. It's so pretty and they have beautiful grounds! George Washington Manor is also gorgeous and there's a park less than a mile away where you can take pictures, although for the amount of guests you're thinking of inviting, the cocktail hour room might be a little tight with all of your guests. I also loved the Roslyn Claremont Hotel, which doesn't have the mansion-y look you like, but is really cute and right up the road from the George Washington Manor. They don't have grounds though.
Per other brides' suggestions, the Village Club in Lake Success and the Royalton are two other excellent places to look at!

Another East Wind vote!

They have three different places you can have your reception- with different price ranges and beautiful grounds. No water, but gorgeous. Go see it! You'll love it!

And about Windows on the Lake- you can get a really good deal there. My FH's cousin got married there this past June and her sister is getting married there this coming July because it really is good $$ wise. I dont know how many people you plan on having, but she had around 150 and it was a little tight in the cocktail hour room as well as the main dining room- but very pretty overlooking the lake.

Good Luck in your search!!
