Sorry, no Planting Fields anymore...-NOT TRUE that stinks!

Well, it was nice of them to tell us that. We are getting married in Sept and as I said we had it all set until the administrator called me back and said I was misinformed and they would not be doing weddings at all in 2001. But, yes, they had originally told us construction would start 10/01. We ended up booking Roslyn Park for the ceremony and a loft in Brooklyn for the reception, because we also wanted the 'different' wedding. Aside from Planting Fields, we didn't really find a LI location that we really liked. I wish you the best of luck on your wedding. I'm sure you will have a beautiful ceremony and reception! Did you pick a caterer yet? If you need help with that, our caterer is fabulous!

Planting Fields was disappointing - the search continues...

My scouts went by and said it was disappointing. No gardens are around the building they rent for weddings and the building itself needs a lot of work. So, I'm back to square one.

Did you try the Nassau County Art Museum in Roslyn?

I know they hold special functions, but I think they are all tented. The grounds are beautiful and the mansion is very nice. Sands Point Preserve might also be an option.

I used to work for a catering co., and went to Roslyn Museum

the cockatil hr was really nice, since it`s in the actual museum, but the actual reception has to be outside under a tent. So, it depends if that`s what you want. As for Sands Point, I think the same would apply. The Gould`s house is only open for certain exhibits, and I doubt they would let a wedding party in. They may let you have something outside, but again, it would be under a tent.

Forgot to mention one other thing..

...remember that if you do choose a place like a museum, park, etc., you also need to a get caterer. If you`re not familiar with the area, I would think this would be really hard to do! I would continue the search for a catering hall, where it`s all included.
