help me find a venue

help me find a venue

hello everyone. Im new here this is my first post. My fiance and i got engaged on new years eve just as the ball dropped and basically a week or 2 after we started planning. (2 months). We have yet to find a venue and it is officially driving me crazy.
Our families are very large and theres a lot of specifics we need to meet.
-firstly we need for it to be a 1 event venue (i dont want to see any other guests who arent from my party)
- capacity needs to be 275-300 minimum (may even go over that)
- i want to get married in june of 2011 so preferably i want a beautiful outside (wedding permitting) . .if not i need for the venue to have 3 separate rooms for cocktail, ceremony , and reception (in that order .. i know many places do ceremony then cocktail but i prefer reversed)
- i would also like a place that allows outside catering but it isnt a necessity.

i really prefer to get married on long island , my family is from here and most of our guests are from brooklyn which is a close drive.
id prefer Nassau but im also open to Suffolk

Thank you so much in advance to everyone!

p.s :
the places i have already seen on long island:
- chateau briand (loved but they do more than 1 event and the backup ceremony room in case it rains wasnt to my liking)
- the inn at new hyde park (i wasnt crazy about the grand ballroom everything else was gorgeous)
- sand castle (love! actually gave a deposit till we discovered that in case it rains the indoor ceremony room will not accommodate 300 people .. tear . . i literally cried for 2 days over this place)
- floral terrace (nothing to say.)
- terrace on the park ( nothing to say.)

tomorrow i have appointments to
the woodlands
and
the carltun at eisenhower park

You should look into Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park.. 1 wedding at a time and beautiful grounds in June

i really like giorgios but its 70 miles from my house (and im on long island) it would be really inaccessible to my guests

The ballroom at Carlysle is beautiful. And you wont need outside catering...the food is sooo good!

Def try the Bourne Mansion - gorgeous place.

Also try the North Ritz - can hold your 275-300, has 3 separate rooms for CH, ceremony and reception.

Welcome to LIW!

bourne mansion, carlysle on the green, land's end, and depending on your budget, try crescent beach club. it is AMAZING there, but pricey.

Re: help me find a venue

ty so much to everyone's suggestions.

Yesterday we went to three places
we started out at the woodlands , and even though it is beautiful it wouldn't be good for the amount of people were having plus they do not have a indoor ceremony area.

then we went to the north ritz .. its very nice but i felt like the ballroom would really need to be decorated (and not just flowers , centerpieces) .. the ceilings were kind of plane and the girl we were working with told us that many times they do tooling and led lights on the sides.

then we went to the carltun at eisenhower - BEAUTIFUL!! gorgeous and we are still thinking about it but it is really pricey. its still an option but i think we might need to see what else is out there

we were supposed to go to carlyle on the green but the weather was terrible and we were already super tired at that point. I guess well go there during the week.

i am still open to any suggestions

thank you!

Welcome!!!

I've seen pictures of the Carlyle...it looks beautiful.

It was on our original list but it was a little too expensive for us.

Re: help me find a venue

check out www.weddingsitesandservices.com

that website lists a lot of places on the island and gives info that will be helpful in narrowing places down (i.e. letting you know how many weddings are held at a time and capacity)

I'm an Inn Bride. I know what you mean. I think the rest of the place is nicer than the ballroom. I however LOVE the ballroom at North Ritz Club. it's a little smaller and has a smaller outdoor space, but eh ballroom is HUGE an gorgeous and it's one wedding at a time.

ETA: Have you looked at Oheka?
