Okay, so I'd like to wear flats (or low heel) closed toe shoes with my dress to be a little bit shorter than my FH. My sister warned me not to get 'frumpy' shoes. Don't all low heel shoes look the same?
I had this same problem and I would try Love my Shoes or Craft Shoes.

I don't know if you'd consider these 'cool' but I thought they were quite pretty. I got them from eweddingshoes.com and they have a selection of different shoes.
I have just tried them on with stockings around the house and they seem like they'll be fine. They are really nice quality with a good cushion inside and leather soles.

These were mine! They were soo comfortable!! I Got them at Nordstroms.com
I am 6 ft and my DH is 5'9' so I wanted a very low heel. I felt that heels make you have a better posture than flats. here are my shoes...they're by Coloriffics (Boca - I think)

I got a shoe with a tiny heel from Parade of shoes during their going out of business sale...I saw more there yesterday for $16.99....Can't beat that price & they are comfortable....

i got mine at craft shoes....im much shorter than FH....but i wanted a small heel because I plan on taking off my shoes at the reception and dont want to have my dress dragging on the floor
