HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! (LONG VENT)

Hey Girls-
so we changed our minds about having the wedding at my parent's upstate ( would have been awesome- they have 11 acres, etc...BUT $130 pp just for food and rentals- too much $ for us)

we deicded we love the thayer hotel at west point.

THEY ARE BOOKED FOR AUG 26!!!

FH says, do whatever you want, change the date if you want... (i really don't want to make that decision on my own, but it is a very busy time for him and he works 70 hrs a week to begin with...)

My photographer only has august 5 open in that month...

WHAT DO I DO??

also if anyone wants to give an opinion on thayer hotel (please)

Can you negotiate with the caterer? I wouldn't give up on that so easily... or maybe you can find another less expensive caterer?

Oi! What a beautiful hotel! But the timing has to be right for the both of you. Are there no other hotels that you've liked in the area? Just throwing it out there because I'm biased but I was looking for a setting similar to the Thayer and found the harrison house in glen cove. Its a one wedding place which might still give you that upstate new york type setting. I'm sorry

1)just kind of attached... feel like it's 'our date' (silly, I know...)

2)already booked photographer we LOVE for that date and she is very booked for 06...

Where is your parents house? My dad also lives in the area. The Thayer Hotel is beautiful. Have you ever been to Troutbeck? It is in Amenia, and gorgeous. The do a beautiful job with weddings. My prom was there too! website

Mohonk Mountain House? I looked there too....

thanks for the ideas...we looked at Mohonk but they start at $110 pp for the kind of reception we want...plus the rooms start at $250...just a little rich for our blood

how about trying a different catering place
maybe that might be a little better since you want to keep the date and the orginial location

Hmm...I have other ideas...Are you still trying for upstate then? Or are you considering LI?

definitely upstate- i am from newburgh, so west point is very special to me (2 of my cousins went there too)

i guess i will change the date...

If it's make you feel any better, I had to change my date 3 times and they all feel special until you get another one.
