help me out ladies: I am a wedding hostage...

So, the day before yesterday, my 92 year old grandma asks me if her cousin's son can come to the wedding, because he would be driving 4 of the guests who are in their 80's. Otherwise, those 4 people can't come -even though 2 of those people already RSVP'd that they were coming.

So, of course, I flipped out because my grandma made me feel like I was wrong for having a wedding in NY, and how would I expect anyone to get there. so, fine...FINE! Let him come...

Now, fi gets a call from his deceased father's cousin. She and her siblings and all of their children are invited. We called this lady a few months ago because we needed help with names and addresses.

She called to ask us if my Fi's first cousins on his dad's side were invited. (NO, there had been drama years back between fis' dad and their dad and fi doesn't even know all of their names.) Well, fi's aunt died last week (she was also his godmother, but he barely ever saw her because of the old drama. So, now they expect fi to invite his first cousins because they will be flying in to NJ for the week of our wedding to hold a mass for their mother...

We are OUT of invites, reception cards, and RSVP cards. I don't even know most of these people. But, they are fi's first cousins... I am SO angry about this!!!

I feel like I am being held hostage! Of course, I haven't received ANY RSVPs from the people who are asking/telling us to invite additional people!

Edited to say: Fi's family is still waiting for an answer on this...WHAT SHOULD I DO?

just go with the flow, it will all work out...

at least you are having problems with people wanting to attend your wedding and not the other way around...

tell the lady to go to the store pick up invitations and that she can hand write them out since you are all out of invitations and wasnt planning to invite people that fh hasnt talked to in years...put the stress on her

What does your FI think ? -
IMO - you don't have to invite people you don't know and/or speak to - It's nice for people who rarely see each other to all be together for a wedding - But if no one sees them b/c no one WANTS to see them - WHY would you invite them ?? And WHO do these people think they are telling you who you HAVE to invite ?? - Sorry - i'm sure i'm fueling your aggravation- But i'm w/ YOU on this one !!

i agree with marisa...

this is your fh's family... if he doesnt know these people it sounds like he doesnt want them there either.. your fh should talk to his grandma and be honest, say he doesnt want to invite people he doesnt even know the names of, that he wants just the closest people to him there.....

also if these people's mother just died are they really going to want to go to a wedding right after?
