My wedding is september 21st... i STILL havent booked the honeymoon.. i started talking to Tom Vargese after hearing such great things about him here... he's really nice. He practically sold me on Jamaica's Couples Swept Away like he did with a lot of other girls... after talking about it and everything seeming great, he tells me our time is during hurricane season!.. im so upset. I was so excited about Swept Away and now i might have to change plans...
can any september brides tell me where you are going on your honeymoon, and if you would still go to jamaica in hurricane season??
btw, tom says i can buy hurrican insurance and couples will cancel the whole trip and flights even the day before and reschedule another time. Tom also said he will be in constant contact with me the whole week before telling me whether or not a hurricane is coming... if there is one, he says he can book someplace else right away..
HELP! WHAT WOULD YOU DO??? should i take a chance hoping there will be no hurricane or go somewhere totally else? (there has been on hurrican in jamaica in ten years and it was about 4 years ago)

Personally I would not want to deal with any of that the week of my wedding in case something happens. You will already have alot going on and then to pick a new destination would be too much.
How about Aruba?
Ya I agree with Aruba during this time of year. its below the hurricane belt. Also look at Bonaire and Curacao. They are also below the hurricane belt.

Well I'd say go for it if you have your hearts set on Jamaica. We're going to Mexico in Hurricane seasons and I'm not too worried about it..just a bit. We have insurance though just in case. But the fact that its hurricane season makes things a lot cheaper, and the resorts less crowded.

our wedding is probably going to be in october- and we had the same problem- we wanted to do a southern caribbean cruise- which the travel agent said would be fine- i do trust her since she's my aunt lol but we were thinking of changing to the mexican riviera to avoid the whole thing- los cabo, alcapulco- sorry my spelling is awful.

He must get a commission from Couples...he tried to sell me on that one too...and apparently most other girls....
We decided to go to Riviera Maya and take the hurricane risk. Other places were too expensive. We booked on an AMEX card- so we have automatic trip insurance (at least thats what my father told me)
I obsessed over it for a looong time. But I figured if I didn't book soon there would be NO HM. And I figure the chances of having a hurricane are smaller than the chances of NOT having one...

I'm going to Swept Away in September. It's risky but I think it will be fine. It looks like such an amazing resort and we got a good deal. I could never afford Europe or Tahiti for the same price. I'd be disappointed if we had to change resorts at the last minute, but I know I'll have a great HM no matter where we are.

One of my friends got married his past september 8th and she and her husband went to Jamaica on their honeymoon and had nothing but beautiful weather. Hope this helps

I agree, but I am biased!
I don't think I would risk going to the caribbean during hurricane season... I'd do either Tahiti, Hawaii, Aruba or Europe (Greek islands or something).

DO NOT plan to go to the Caribbean during hurricane season. Why even give yourself the added stress of having to worry about it?
My brother got married in October and planned his honeymoon for St. Thomas. A few days before his wedding, a huge hurricane devastated the resort. Their TA gave them several options to change their honeymoon and they chose Cancun. They landed as the hurricane was hitting Mexico, spent 16 hours in the airport because no one was allowed to leave, and then flew to Key West and just stayed there.
Don't give yourself any more stress than necessary. Aruba would be a safer choice and just as nice if you're looking for an island.
We're getting married / taking our honeymoon in August -- we opted for Europe (Italy).

I agree with the other girls. Why stress yourself out and spend additonal money on hurricane insurance when you could pick a different location all together and save yourself the worry and the additional money. If you're really interested in an all inclusive resort then have the agent you're working with suggest another location with similar options.

If you want carribbean- go to Aruba, Curacao, or Bonaire. They are below the hurricane belt. If I were a september bride this si what i would do.

That's a great idea...I've been to Cabo twice and love it. It's one of my favorite places!
