My SIL and brother's shower is this weekend and I want to do a thoughful gift. Something along the lines of 'for your wedding night...' 'First Anniversary'....'First fight'....'First baby'...
Can you guys think of something cute like this?

Re: Help me with a Special shower gift
Maybe get a gift certificate to a restaurant for a 'first date?' Find out where they went? Give them a 'date night.'

Re: Help me with a Special shower gift
I did a wine basket for my cousin's shower. there's a poem...and it says something about each speacial day in the marriage...and you just pick out different bottles for each part.
they loved it and when I read the poem, she cried!

Re: Help me with a Special shower gift
there is something called the candle prayer that my friends and I always do- it involves a set of candles that you light on the first, fifth anniversaries, on the birth of your first child- etc- its really moving. I have to email my friend to get it, but its so nice. So maybe you could read that & put together the basket as part of your gift

There is a candle poem that involves all of your firsts:
A Basket of Candles For [insert Bride's name]
A basket of candles that come in a pair In all different colors, for you two to share The white ones burn first They are wrapped in white lace To celebrate your first married night In your new chosen place. The green pair is taller, and also much thinner Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner. The dark blue candles are for after your first fight Use them to burn while making up all night. Pink candles set the mood and pave the way For your first married Valentine’s Day. Now, when your first year of marriage is through The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two. Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might. By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby. And just when you thought you’d put these away Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day. Now just one more pair left - for the big 2 5 The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive. Congratulations [insert Bride and Groom's names] On the start of your forever May the two of you always be happy together And burn these candles Just the way we said But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

champagne for the wedding night
red wine for first fight

Re: Help me with a Special shower gift
Found it:
Wedding Night- (white tulle) (Champagne)
The night you have dreamed of is finally here. The future surrounds you with hope and yet fear. You’ve wanted so long to find your mate. Sip this wine and toast this date. The night is meant for you to share. Enjoy each other a perfect pair.
First Dinner party- (gold tulle) (white wine)
As you open your home to all of your friends to entertain and eat. It’s a place for old friends to catch up and new ones to meet. When the night is over two great hosts can share this bottle of wine. But don’t sit down yet pull up your sleeves because now it’s clean up time.
First fight- (black tulle) (red wine)
When fights occur as they sometimes will and tempers are steaming hot. Pour a glass take a sip and be thankful for what you’ve got. For in a marriage if everyone agreed it would certainly be a bore. And by asking for my friends hand Jordan’s surely in for more!
Christmas Eve- (red and green tulle) (beaujolais)
A wise man turned to a friend and said wine is better than beer. And now is the season for friends and fun and lots of holiday cheer. So pop the cork and relax a bit and when the night is through, kiss goodnight, close your eyes and Santa will be good to you.
First Anniversary- (cream tulle) (white wine)
Tonight you’ve been married a year one wonders where the time goes. No longer are you newlyweds, soon you’ll be pro’s. I hope the days have found you both in good health and spirit. Keep saying I love you one always needs to hear it. Now toast this date known as the first but certainly not the last. And as you build your future don’t ever forget the past.
1st Baby-(pink and blue tulle) (champagne) YOU CAN CHANGE THISE TO READ DIFFERENTLY IF YOU WANT SPARKLING CIDER....
The news that a baby will soon share your life will make you a mother not only a wife. You’ll see it through good times and sometimes bad. Leslie the loving mother, and Jordan the dearest dad. Now Jordan must drink this one alone, and Leslie with empty glass. Sit back and relax nine months they quickly pass!
