Help me with flowers

Ok so I'm starting to make appointments with florist. But I'm very hesitant because I have no idea what I want. I'm completely clue-less about flowers. The one thing I know is I want tall centerpieces. I have no idea what would be in season for Sept 09, which flowers are more expensive? What the names of the flowers ect... Can you please help me. This is the one thing that I would prefer NOT to do. I wish I could just say 'here is the money make it work'. Please help me I know that flowers are very important in setting the mood of the wedding and I DON'T want to mess it up. If you have pictures or websites I would really appreciate it.

What kind of look are you going for... fall or summer? Since you are in September, you could definitely do either one! Our CP are very fallish and we did a mix of several different kinds of flowers... roses, orchids, calla lilies, hydrangea, sunflowers... Here is a pic of my sample CP. Something like this would run you $100 for the low and $150 for the high (at least that's what our florist is charging us). I'd recommend maybe doing a mixture of different flowers, and not sticking to one specific type. Orchids and Callalilies are on the list of highest priced flowers, but if you want them.. maybe have a touch of them and not a CP just purely made up of them. If you do a mixture, you could definitely save yourself some $$. I hope my rambling helps!!

I'm pretty clueless on flowers myself. When I look at florist next year I'm just going in with what colors I'm looking for in the arrangement, ideas based on that & what my budget is.

I'm sure if you go to them with a budget & color ideas they will show you & suggest what you can use.

I felt the same way you did. i literally walked into the meetings with florists with a picture of my dress, and the color scheme that i was going with and that's it. I told them i wanted TALL centerpieces and had a few pics of bouquets i thought i might like. I let them do the talking.
some florists discouraged me bcuz they were no help. others showed me pictures of arrangements, gave me ideas, etc. In the end i went with the florist who was the most helpful, who was patient and gave me options and ideas both with flowers and in pricing.
