Help me with my 'theme'

I was thinking after answering the post about wedding motifs and themes...

I am trying to stick with an 'antique' theme. My dress and ring are both antique looking and I want to do candelabra's as my centerpeuces togive it a olden/renaissane look....

What else could I do ??

Any suggestions for BM colors and favors?

I was originally going to do like a deeeeep red but now I dont know if it goes?

i think for the bridesmaids a dress in the colors champagne or a pale mauve or even a celedon would look great. you can wrap the bouquets in antique lace and they can wear chokers that have cameo pendants on them. they would also need a shawl to complete the look.

I was doing that a little too... My dress, the ring, the hall.... But then the Bm dress style screwed it all up.
I think red is nice. It would go with the theme well. You might also try a deep mauve.
Favors...hmmm.. what about some antique looking pewter box, or wine.....

When I think 'antique', I think of a Victorian theme. The first color that comes to mind is antique rose. For favors...maybe something silver with a lot of scroll work on it. Lace, dried spray roses, English garden flowers arrangements.

You could wrap the favors in a lace/dollie

I just did a search and I found this link - take look... http://www.westchester-weddings.com/wedding_themes_Victorian.asp

And here's a link for men attire http://www.gentlemansemporium.com/store/cat_wellappointed.php

The Wedding Channel had this index for 1920s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, Renaissance, Victorian and Wild West. I didn't know era you were looking for.......click here..... http://www.weddingchannel.com/cgi-bin/gx.cgi/AppLogic+com.wc.Utility.NavBarForStaticHTML?location=/templates/Articles/NonContentSet/Ceremony/themeshome01.html

Re: Help me with my 'theme'

your theme reminds me of the renaissance festival that I went to in tuxedo new york last summer....so, with that in mind....

bridesmaids-wear a deep color/like crimson...with bell sleeves....and something that is popular from that time period was wearing a rose, or a few small roses at the bust line (in the middle of the cleavage)-sounds bizarre, but everyone walking around was wearing leather roses like that.....also, they all were wearing drawstring purses, like wristlets.....

for favors you could do a scroll that tells the origin of your new last name.....

yay so many good ideas!!! kepp them coming!!!

As for the reniassance stuff... I like it alot but want to stay more with antique bc it will be july so bell sleeves and such are out of the question.

Crimson would be a good color... and I like the deep mauve too

also have your flowers (bouquets) in a tussy mussy - then stand them around your sweetheart table

Total Antique?

Hrm..What a great Idea.

I SOOOOOOO love themes!

Here’s my thoughts:

Go for those curlie que hair does. High up with curls. Get the girls to hear those tiny little hats (bonnets). Use those err tussy mussies for the bo-ks. Those little silver hand held holders? I love the idea of champagne for the BM. I’d make them corset type dresses if possible. Love the Cameo necklace idea as well.

Your wedding is in July. Think of getting the girls some parasols (lace umbrellas) or fancy lace fans. Or use fancy fans as center pieces. Have them done in a square under your candelabra.

Chandelier earrings would be a must. Gloves for the girls. Maybe lace?

I think Champagne and Mauve would be the tones I’d go for in the flowers and décor. Gold and ivory as accents. Using silver to show off the tables maybe some ivy as well? Those flowers what are they called Hy-dre-niyas? Sp?

Use lace dollies as place settings. Great idea as well.

Re: Help me with my 'theme'

9oh my goodness, so many great ideas!!

I dont want to go TOTAL antique with all the crazy lace dresses and stuff but more of a elegant antique romance kind of thing (haha if that makes sense)

But I sooooo notebooked this thread because the ideas are just so great.. I have a million things running in my head right now.

I love the candelbra that is posted.. does anyone know where I could get one that is like a rust color and a little cheaper???

Antique looking frames. Maybe old photographs of your grandparents?

And in that victorian ballroom picture I saw a lace fan I think. That might be cool...no pun intended.

Ours is a bit antique, and we're following the whole theme of antique gold throughout - invitations, pedestals for the flowers, jacquard napkins and tableclothes, invitations, and that's all. Don't go too nuts, b/c you don't want to overwhelm anyone.

i agree- it is easy to go overboard!!

i would definitely do the antiqued paper invites and all that stuff- and probably keep the colors muted.

cute idea!
