HELP!!! Minister backed out…

One of my FH’s best friends from childhood is currently in seminary school to become a minister. He graduates in May, right before we get married and we had asked him last year when we got engaged to perform the ceremony for us. If he had said no, we would have asked him to be a GM and done some things differently, but he said yes.

My FH talked to his friend last night, and for reasons I will not even bother mentioning, he has suggested we look for someone else to perform the ceremony. So now, with only 4 months left to go, we are without a priest or minister.

FH is Methodist and I am Catholic. We would like to have a Christian, non-denominational ceremony (not a mass) at our reception hall, which is in Hauppauge. If anyone can recommend either a priest or minister, it would be greatly appreciated. FH and I are not parishioners of any church and have no idea where to even start looking for someone to perform the ceremony for us.

On a different note, because this friend was performing the ceremony, we had already decided on our BP without him in it. As it is, we already have 1 more GM than BM. I know FH wants to add him, but then we’ll have 2 more GM than BM. My 2 brothers are GM and my FH didn’t want them, so now I feel bad. If my brothers were to back out of the BP and his friend joined it would be an even BP. I know FH would never ask them to back out now that they are in, but I know they would understand. I don’t know what to do.

Re: HELP!!! Minister backed out…

Sorry, I don't know of a minister, but I don't think it makes a difference if BP is uneven, just have the extra GM walk alone or have them double up with one BM.

Re: HELP!!! Minister backed out…

Than you for your suggestions - keep them coming.

And just to throw this out there - there's no way we are going to find a church at this late a date and without being parishioners anywhere, right? So I shouldn’t even bother wasting my time with that one? It’s just, if we had known all along that his friend wasn’t going to do the ceremony, we would have planned a church wedding.

Re: HELP!!! Minister backed out…

Remain calm I have just the person for you his name is Rev. Vincent Sica. The last couple of his ceremonies I viewed he brought something warm and personable into it. It was as if the ceremony was written for these two people when they first met. Look into it his number is (718) 645-8453. I hope he can assist you. Good Luck!
