ok so my friend booked her hall in suffolk ( i wont say where) but is there a way to get her money back. she booked about 2 or 3 months ago. The reason why she wants to get her money back is b/c they are not sure if they are going to get married next year.

I believe there is some sort of law that if you cancel your wedding you are entitled to all your money or something like that..

I think if it's more than 6 months before the affair she will get all her money back. She will just pay for filing or something. That's like $500.00

That is correct. If I'm not mistaken the most they are allowed to charge you is like $1,500.

Re: help my friend
if she signed a contract she needs to read it. It really depends on the place. Depending on how close it is to the wedding she might be able to get something back if not all. Some places only give you your $ back if they can book the place fot that exact day. But again you'd have to look at the contract.

Re: help my friend
I went through this because I wanted to change the reception hall. Make sure you friend researches this site. I can't figure out to attach the link but it is Chapter 237.
If the reception hall does not give her, her money back, please have her call BBB and file a complaint as well as the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs and file a complaint. She can do it online as well. She can get all of her $$ back except $100 if she cancels 6 months prior. NO EXCUSES... I hope this helps and she gets her money back. I fought for 3 months and got everything back because Suffolk County Consumer Affairs and BBB were after them.
